Devices and platforms

The Savi 8200 Office Series base station connects to three device classes at once: a traditional desk phone (via the handset or headset port), a computer over USB for softphone calls, and a mobile phone over Bluetooth. Calls on any of the three are answered and ended from the headset itself.

UC variant

This is the UC build, set up for unified communications softphones generally rather than tuned to one vendor. If Microsoft Teams is the primary calling platform, the matching -M part number is the better fit.

Operating systems

The base connects to Windows and macOS computers over USB as a standard audio device, so no vendor driver is required for basic audio. Call control on softphones is provided through Poly software.

Poly Lens management

Poly Lens Desktop App is used to update headset and base firmware, set language and audio preferences and configure the headset. For fleets, Poly Lens gives IT visibility of deployed Poly devices and their firmware state - useful where a Singapore office is standardising a large number of Savi systems.

Desk phone compatibility

Compatibility with a specific desk phone depends on that phone's headset port and whether an electronic hook switch (EHS) cable or an HL10 handset lifter is required for remote answering. What is the difference between the UC and the -M (Microsoft) part numbers?

They are the same hardware with different factory tuning and firmware defaults. The -M build is tuned for Microsoft Teams and Skype for Business; the UC build is set up for unified communications softphones generally. Order the -M version if Teams is your primary calling platform.

Should I choose the 8210 mono or the 8220 stereo?

The Savi 8220 is the dual-ear model and adds active noise cancelling, which helps in open-plan offices. The 8210 is single-ear, lighter at 115 g against 160 g, and leaves one ear open so the wearer stays aware of the room - the usual choice for reception, trading floors and desks where colleagues interrupt.

Does this headset have active noise cancelling?

No. In the Savi 8200 Office range, active noise cancelling is fitted to the stereo 8220 only. Every model in the range does have a noise-cancelling boom microphone, which stops nearby conversation reaching the far end.

Do I need anything else to answer desk phone calls remotely?

To answer and end desk phone calls from the headset while away from the desk you need either an electronic hook switch (EHS) cable or an HL10 handset lifter, matched to your desk phone model. These are not included in the box. Tell SourceIT which desk phone you run and we will quote the right one.

How far can I walk from the base station?

Poly rates the Savi 8200 Office Series at up to 590 ft / 180 m line of sight, and up to 180 ft / 55 m in a typical office environment. Real-world range in a fitted-out Singapore office with partitions and glass sits nearer the 55 m figure.

Is the battery replaceable?

Yes. Poly specifies a rechargeable, replaceable lithium-ion polymer battery across the Savi 8200 Office Series, charging in three hours. That keeps a deployed fleet serviceable rather than needing whole-system replacement when batteries age.

Does this come with a Singapore warranty?

Yes. Every Poly Savi 8210 sold by SourceIT comes with local Singapore warranty and a GST invoice.
