Poly Rove B2 Single/Dual Cell DECT Base Station
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Poly Rove B2 Single/Dual-Cell DECT Base Station (8J8W3AA) - Local Warranty
Poly Rove B2 DECT Base Station for Scalable Wireless Coverage
The Poly Rove B2 is the mid-range base station in Poly’s Rove wireless DECT IP phone system, and the one most Singapore SMEs settle on. It runs as a single cell or a dual cell, supports up to 20 handsets and up to 20 SIP registrations, and carries up to 10 concurrent calls on one cell or up to 20 across two. Recommended coverage is up to 5,000 sq ft single cell and up to 15,000 sq ft dual cell, with up to three Poly Rove R8 repeaters available on top.
One Base That Grows With the Site
The B2 is bought once and reconfigured as the site changes. Start as a single cell for a compact office or clinic; add a second B2 for dual-cell operation when you take the floor above or extend into a warehouse annexe, and handsets roam between cells without dropping the call. All Poly Rove handsets — Rove 20, Rove 30 and Rove 40 — register to the same base, so you can mix office and ruggedised handsets on one system.
PoE or AC Power, on a Standard 10/100 Ethernet Port
The B2 connects on a 10/100 Base Ethernet port and takes power either from the supplied 5 V 2 A DC adapter or over Ethernet. PoE matters in practice: DECT bases perform best mounted high and central, which is rarely where the power sockets are. A desk stand is included in the box for table-top siting.
Secure DECT and Central Provisioning
This is the 1880–1900 MHz build — the correct DECT band for Singapore — with DECT end-to-end encryption maintained even when calls are relayed through a repeater. The base provisions over HTTPS or encrypted XML via TFTP or HTTP, and can be managed remotely through PDMS-SP cloud management, so a multi-site rollout does not need an engineer at every door.
Ideal For
Singapore SMEs, clinics and dental practices, retail and F&B outlets, small hotels, schools and light industrial sites needing 10 to 20 mobile handsets with room to expand to a second cell.

Compatibility & Software Support
Poly Rove System Compatibility
The Poly Rove range is a single interoperable DECT system. All Poly Rove handsets — Rove 20, Rove 30 and Rove 40 — register to any Poly Rove base station, and the Rove R8 repeater is compatible with all Poly Rove products. This means you can mix entry-level and ruggedised handsets on one base and add coverage later without replacing what you already own.
Call Platform and Standards Support
Poly Rove is an Open SIP solution and supports SIP-based calling on standards-compliant IP PBX and hosted voice platforms. HP lists the Poly Rove range as Zoom certified. SourceIT can confirm interoperability against your specific Singapore SIP trunk or hosted PBX provider before you order.

A note on the DECT frequency band
Poly builds the Rove range in two radio variants: a 1920–1930 MHz North American SKU and an 1880–1900 MHz EU / ANZ / UK SKU. The Rove B2 base station stocked by SourceIT is the 1880–1900 MHz build, which is the correct DECT band for Singapore. North American 1920–1930 MHz units bought from overseas will not operate legally or reliably here — always check the band before you buy grey stock.

Frequently Asked Questions — Poly Rove B2
How many handsets and calls does the B2 support?
Poly rates the B2 at up to 20 handsets and up to 20 SIP registrations. In single-cell mode it carries up to 10 concurrent calls; in dual-cell mode, up to 20. Recommended coverage is up to 5,000 sq ft as a single cell and up to 15,000 sq ft as a dual cell.
What is the difference between single-cell and dual-cell mode?
Single cell is one radio cell from one base. Dual cell links a second B2 so handsets roam between the two cells while staying on the call, doubling both the concurrent-call capacity and the covered floor area. Dual cell is the natural step for a two-storey shophouse, a larger office floor or a warehouse with an attached office block.
How does the B2 compare with the B1 and the B4?
The single-cell B1 base (available in Singapore inside the Rove 20 + B1 kit) is the entry point — up to 10 handsets and around 5,000 sq ft, AC powered with no PoE. This B2 covers up to 20 handsets across one or two cells. The B4 multi-cell base is the enterprise option: up to 30 handsets per base, scaling to 254 bases with up to 1,000 handsets and 2,000 concurrent calls system-wide.
Does the B2 support Power over Ethernet?
Yes. Poly lists power as either a 5 V 2 A DC external adapter or Power over Ethernet, on a 10/100 Base Ethernet port. PoE is useful where the base is wall or riser mounted away from a socket.
Which handsets work with this base?
All Poly Rove handsets. Mix and match the entry-level Rove 20, the ruggedised IP65 Rove 30 and the premium Rove 40 with Bluetooth and alarm key on the same base, up to the 20-handset limit.
Can I extend coverage beyond the base station?
Yes — HP lists the B2 as supporting up to 3 Poly Rove R8 repeaters. A repeater needs only a power outlet, no extra network cabling, and pushes reach from roughly 50 m indoors out to as much as 300 m depending on the environment. DECT encryption is maintained through the repeater.
Is this the correct DECT band for Singapore, and is a licence needed?
This is the 1880–1900 MHz build, which is the correct DECT band for Singapore and APAC. No per-handset licence or room PC is required — the base connects straight to your network and registers to your Open SIP platform.
Does the Poly Rove B2 come with a warranty in Singapore?
Yes. Every Poly Rove B2 Base Station sold by SourceIT comes with local Singapore warranty and a GST invoice.
