Poly ATA 402 2FXS Voice Port VoIP Adapter with Open SIP
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Poly ATA 402 2-FXS Voice Port VoIP Adapter with Open SIP (8F3H5AA) - Local Warranty
Poly ATA 402 Dual-Port Analog Telephone Adapter for Open SIP VoIP
The Poly ATA 402 is a two-port analog telephone adapter that brings a pair of legacy analog devices onto a modern Open SIP VoIP phone system. Two independent FXS ports let one adapter serve two analog phones, fax machines, paging amplifiers or emergency phones — each on its own SIP account — over a single RJ-45 network connection. At 9.6 x 9.6 x 2.2 cm and 85 g it sits neatly in a riser cupboard or behind a desk.
Two Analog Devices, One Adapter, One Network Port
Where two analog devices sit close together — a fax machine and a franking terminal in accounts, a lift phone and a car-park intercom in the same riser — the ATA 402 halves the hardware, the cabling and the power sockets compared with two single-port adapters. Each FXS port registers independently, so the two devices keep separate extensions or DID numbers.
T.38 Fax and Open SIP Interoperability
The ATA 402 supports SIP-based VoIP and T.38 fax services, and registers using SIPv2 (RFC 3261, 3262, 3263, 3264) to standards-compliant IP PBX platforms and hosted voice services. HP lists it as Zoom certified. That standards-based approach means the adapter is not locked to a single Singapore SIP provider.
Secure Provisioning and Central Management
Configuration is protected by HTTPS secure provisioning with an IVR password on the local access interface, and fleets can be provisioned and managed remotely through PDMS-SP cloud management — useful when adapters are scattered across lift motor rooms, risers and back offices where a site visit is inconvenient.
Ideal For
Singapore offices migrating from PSTN or ISDN to SIP trunks, building management and facilities teams keeping lift and car-park emergency phones live, clinics and law firms retaining fax lines, and any site with two analog devices to carry across to VoIP.

Compatibility & Software Support
Call Platform and Standards Support
The Poly ATA 402 is an Open SIP device. It registers to standards-compliant IP PBX platforms and hosted voice services using SIPv2, so it works with the majority of Singapore SIP trunk and cloud PBX providers rather than being tied to one vendor. HP lists the ATA range as Zoom certified and Microsoft supported.

What an ATA Does — and Does Not Do
An analog telephone adapter converts a traditional analog device into a SIP endpoint. It is the standard way to keep a fax machine, a lift emergency phone, a paging amplifier, a door intercom, a franking machine or an EFTPOS terminal working after a site migrates from PSTN or ISDN lines to VoIP — a common requirement in Singapore following the retirement of legacy copper services. It does not add analog trunk (FXO) ports: the ATA presents FXS ports for devices, not lines for a PBX.

Frequently Asked Questions — Poly ATA 402
What is the difference between the ATA 402 and the ATA 400?
The ATA 402 has two FXS ports; the ATA 400 has one. Two ports mean one adapter, one LAN port and one power socket can serve two independent analog devices — for example a fax machine and a lift emergency phone in the same riser cupboard. The 402 is marginally larger and heavier (9.6 x 9.6 x 2.2 cm and 85 g against 8.8 x 8.8 x 2.6 cm and 65 g).
Are the two FXS ports independent?
Yes. HP describes the ATA 402 as having “two FXS ports [that] let you make and receive calls” — each port is a separate analog interface and can be registered to its own SIP account, so two devices operate on two different extensions or DID numbers from the one adapter.
What can I connect to the FXS ports?
Any standard analog telephony device: analog desk phones, fax machines, paging amplifiers, lift and car-park emergency phones, door intercoms, alarm diallers, franking machines and EFTPOS terminals. The ports present line voltage and dial tone exactly as a legacy exchange line would.
Will fax work reliably over VoIP?
The ATA 402 supports T.38 fax services as well as SIP-based VoIP, which is the standard mechanism for carrying fax over IP. Reliability also depends on your SIP provider supporting T.38 and on the network path — SourceIT can confirm T.38 support with your Singapore carrier before you order.
Do I need a licence, a server or a room PC?
No. The ATA 402 is a self-contained SIP endpoint needing only a LAN port, power and SIP accounts on your IP PBX or hosted voice platform. PDMS-SP cloud management provides remote provisioning over HTTPS for larger estates.
Does the ATA 402 support PoE?
No. HP lists power as an external universal AC adapter (5 V 1 A DC, 100–240 VAC, 0.3 A, 50/60 Hz), supplied in the box. Plan for a mains socket at the installation point.
Should I keep the analog phones, or move to SIP desk phones?
Devices that are analog by nature — fax, lift phones, paging — belong on an ATA. Plain analog desk phones are usually better replaced with a native SIP phone such as the Poly Edge B20 or the Poly Edge E350, which add HD audio, a directory and presence for a similar total cost.
Does the Poly ATA 402 come with a warranty in Singapore?
Yes. Every Poly ATA 402 sold by SourceIT comes with local Singapore warranty and a GST invoice.
