Microsoft Windows 11 Pro Edition 64-Bit 1 Device DVD English (FQC-10528) - Local Support

What this licence is

This is a full packaged retail licence for Windows 11 Pro, supplied on DVD media, for one device. Windows 11 Pro is the business-oriented edition of Microsoft's client operating system. The licence itself is perpetual: you buy it once and it does not renew. What does have an end date is the Windows version installed on the machine, and Microsoft publishes those dates version by version. Both facts are set out in full below.

The requirement that stops most purchases

Windows 11 has a hard hardware floor and it is stricter than Windows 10's. Microsoft requires UEFI firmware that is Secure Boot capable and Trusted Platform Module version 2.0, alongside a compatible 64-bit processor with two or more cores, 4 GB of memory and a 64 GB storage device. A machine that does not meet those requirements is not made eligible by buying a licence. If you are buying this to bring an older machine forward, check the hardware first — Microsoft publishes a PC Health Check app for exactly this purpose, and we would rather tell you before the invoice than after.

Servicing: the licence is perpetual, the version is not

Windows 11 Home and Pro follow Microsoft's Modern Lifecycle Policy. Microsoft's stated release policy is a new version of Windows 11 once a year, and each Home and Pro version is serviced for 24 months from its release date. Enterprise, Education and IoT Enterprise editions get 36 months for the same version. A machine left on an out-of-service version stops receiving security updates even though the licence is still perfectly valid. The published dates for every Windows 11 version are in the first accordion below — go by those dates rather than by the general cadence.

Pro against Home — and what we will not claim

Microsoft's own consumer comparison page publishes a security table and little else. It distinguishes Device encryption, which both editions have, from BitLocker Drive Encryption, which only Pro has. Beyond that, the one difference documented on a separate Microsoft page is Hyper-V, which Microsoft documents as installable on Pro and Enterprise and explicitly not on Home. The wider management feature set often attributed to Pro — Entra or Active Directory domain join, Group Policy, Windows Update for Business, Assigned Access, mobile device management, Autopilot, and Remote Desktop as a host rather than a client — is not set out on a Microsoft comparison table, so this page does not assert any of it. If one of those capabilities is the reason for the purchase, ask us and we will confirm it against Microsoft's documentation for your scenario before you commit.

Ownership, transfers and the small print

Microsoft licenses Windows rather than selling it, and grants the right to run one instance on one licensed device for one person at a time. A retail or stand-alone licence such as this one may be transferred to another device you own, or to a device owned by someone else if you are the first licensed user and the new user accepts Microsoft's terms; in either case it must be removed from the previous machine. That is materially different from an OEM licence, which Microsoft ties to the device it shipped with. Microsoft does not publish a page that maps distributor part numbers to product names. The edition name on this page is Microsoft's own; the part number is the SKU this listing is stocked and invoiced against. If the part number matters for your procurement paperwork, confirm it with us in writing before you order.

Licence terms

Licence model Perpetual. Microsoft's licence terms state the software is licensed, not sold.
Grant Microsoft: the right to install and run one instance of the software on one device (the licensed device), for use by one person at a time.
Devices One licensed device.
Transfer Microsoft's terms for stand-alone (retail) software allow transfer to another device that belongs to you, and to a device owned by someone else if you are the first licensed user and the new user accepts the licence terms. The software must be removed from the previous device.
Support Microsoft's terms state Microsoft provides limited support services for properly licensed retail software. Local pre-sales and fulfilment support on this order is provided by us.
Documentation caveat Microsoft does not publish a Windows 11 retail licence terms document at a live URL. The transfer wording above is from the retail packaged Windows terms (June 2018) and the stand-alone clause of the Windows 11 OEM terms (April 2024), both linked below.

Servicing lifecycle — the dates that decide when you must update

Lifecycle policy Modern Lifecycle Policy. Support is tied to the Windows version installed, not to the licence.
Release cadence Microsoft states as general policy that new versions of Windows 11 are released once per year, with monthly quality updates that include security and non-security updates. The versions listed below are the ones Microsoft has published, and their published dates govern.
Home and Pro servicing 24 months from the release date of each version.
Enterprise, Education and IoT Enterprise servicing 36 months from the release date of each version.
Version 26H1 Released 10 February 2026. Serviced until 15 March 2028.
Version 25H2 Released 30 September 2025. Serviced until 13 October 2027.
Version 24H2 Released 1 October 2024. Serviced until 14 October 2026.
Version 23H2 Released 31 October 2023. Servicing ended 12 November 2025.
Version 22H2 Released 20 September 2022. Servicing ended 9 October 2024.
Version 21H2 Released 4 October 2021. Servicing ended 11 October 2023.
System Requirements

Microsoft's published minimum requirements for Windows 11. Every line is a hard requirement, not a recommendation.

Processor 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster with 2 or more cores on a compatible 64-bit processor or System on a Chip (SoC)
Memory 4 GB
Storage 64 GB or larger storage device
System firmware UEFI, Secure Boot capable
TPM Trusted Platform Module (TPM) version 2.0
Graphics card Compatible with DirectX 12 or later with WDDM 2.0 driver
Display High definition (720p) display that is greater than 9 inches diagonally, 8 bits per colour channel
Internet and account Microsoft states that Windows 11 Pro for personal use and Windows 11 Home require internet connectivity and a Microsoft account during initial device setup

Microsoft notes that feature-specific requirements exist beyond this minimum set, and that some features need hardware beyond the floor above. The specifications page linked below carries the full list.

Pro Against Home, Ordering and Activation

What Microsoft's own comparison publishes

BitLocker Drive Encryption Pro only. Not listed for Home.
Device encryption Listed for both Home and Pro. Microsoft treats this as a separate line from BitLocker.
Hyper-V Microsoft documents Hyper-V as supported on Windows 11 Pro or Enterprise, and states the role cannot be installed on Windows 11 Home.
Find my device, Firewall and network protection, Internet protection, Parental controls, Secure Boot, Windows Hello, Windows Security Listed for both Home and Pro.
Everything else Microsoft's consumer comparison page publishes a security table only. We do not assert management features that Microsoft's table does not set out.

What you actually receive

In the box Windows 11 Pro installation media on DVD and a product key
Activation Product key entered during Windows setup, or under Settings after installation
Optical drive Required to use the supplied media. Many current machines have none — check before ordering, or ask us about the download SKU instead.

Frequently Asked Questions — Windows 11 Pro

Does this licence expire?

No. The licence is perpetual. What expires is the Windows VERSION installed on the machine. Microsoft services each Windows 11 Pro version for 24 months from its release date, so staying supported means taking the feature updates Microsoft publishes. The servicing table in the first section gives the published dates for every version.

Will it run on my machine?

Only if the machine meets every line of Microsoft's minimum requirements, and the two that stop most upgrades are TPM 2.0 and UEFI Secure Boot capability. A machine that predates those is not made eligible by buying a licence. Check with Microsoft's PC Health Check app before ordering.

Do I need a Microsoft account?

Microsoft's specifications page states that Windows 11 Pro for personal use and Windows 11 Home require internet connectivity and a Microsoft account during initial device setup. Microsoft's Learn requirements page states the same for Home. We quote both because the two pages differ in scope.

Can I move this licence to a different computer later?

Microsoft's terms for stand-alone software permit transfer to another device you own, with the software removed from the previous one. This differs from an OEM licence, which Microsoft's terms tie to the device it was supplied with. See the licence terms table above and the two Microsoft PDFs linked in the documentation section.

Where do the facts on this page come from?

Every figure is taken from a Microsoft page linked in the documentation section above, and where Microsoft publishes nothing on a point — a part-number mapping, or a management feature not set out on its comparison table — this page says so plainly rather than assert it.
