PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Microsoft Windows 11 Home Edition 64-Bit 1 Device DVD English (KW9-00632) - Local Support

What this licence is

This is a full packaged retail licence for Windows 11 Home, supplied on DVD media, for one device. Home is the consumer edition. The licence is perpetual and does not renew; the Windows version installed on the machine does have a published end-of-servicing date, and those dates are listed below. If you need BitLocker Drive Encryption or Hyper-V, you need Pro rather than Home — those are the two differences Microsoft's own documentation states, and they are set out in the first accordion.

The requirement that stops most purchases

Windows 11 has a hard hardware floor. Microsoft requires UEFI firmware that is Secure Boot capable and Trusted Platform Module version 2.0, alongside a compatible 64-bit processor with two or more cores, 4 GB of memory and a 64 GB storage device. Buying a licence does not make an ineligible machine eligible. Check the hardware with Microsoft's PC Health Check app before you order.

Internet and a Microsoft account are required at setup

Microsoft's specifications page states that Windows 11 Home and Windows 11 Pro for personal use require internet connectivity and a Microsoft account during initial device setup. Microsoft's Learn requirements page states the same for Home specifically. This matters if the machine is destined for somewhere with no network during commissioning, or for a user who does not have and does not want a Microsoft account. We quote both Microsoft pages because they differ in scope, and we would rather you saw the difference than took our word for it.

Servicing, and one caveat specific to Home

Windows 11 Home follows Microsoft's Modern Lifecycle Policy, with each version serviced for 24 months from release. Microsoft adds a caveat that applies only to this edition: Home does not support the deferral of feature updates and will therefore typically receive a new version of Windows 11 before the end-of-servicing date shown. In practice, a Home machine moves itself onto the newest version. If you need to hold a fleet on a fixed version, Home is the wrong edition.

Ownership, transfers and the small print

Microsoft licenses Windows rather than selling it, granting the right to run one instance on one licensed device for one person at a time. A retail or stand-alone licence such as this one may be transferred to another device you own, or to a device owned by someone else if you are the first licensed user and the new user accepts Microsoft's terms; it must be removed from the previous machine. Microsoft does not publish a page that maps distributor part numbers to product names. The edition name on this page is Microsoft's own; the part number is the SKU this listing is stocked and invoiced against. If the part number matters for your procurement paperwork, confirm it with us in writing before you order.

Hyper-V Microsoft states the Hyper-V role cannot be installed on Windows 11 Home.
Feature update deferral Microsoft states Home edition does not support the deferral of feature updates.
Anything else Microsoft's consumer comparison publishes a security table only. We do not assert differences that Microsoft's table does not set out.

Licence terms

Licence model Perpetual. Microsoft's licence terms state the software is licensed, not sold.
Grant Microsoft: the right to install and run one instance of the software on one device (the licensed device), for use by one person at a time.
Devices One licensed device.
Transfer Microsoft's terms for stand-alone (retail) software allow transfer to another device that belongs to you, and to a device owned by someone else if you are the first licensed user and the new user accepts the licence terms. The software must be removed from the previous device.
Support Microsoft's terms state Microsoft provides limited support services for properly licensed retail software. Local pre-sales and fulfilment support on this order is provided by us.
Documentation caveat Microsoft does not publish a Windows 11 retail licence terms document at a live URL. The transfer wording above is from the retail packaged Windows terms (June 2018) and the stand-alone clause of the Windows 11 OEM terms (April 2024), both linked below.

Servicing lifecycle

Lifecycle policy Modern Lifecycle Policy. Support is tied to the Windows version installed, not to the licence.
Release cadence Microsoft: new versions of Windows 11 are released once per year, with monthly quality updates that include security and non-security updates.
Home and Pro servicing 24 months from the release date of each version.
Enterprise, Education and IoT Enterprise servicing 36 months from the release date of each version.
Home edition caveat Microsoft: Home edition does not support the deferral of feature updates and will typically receive a new version of Windows 11 before the end-of-servicing date shown.
Version 26H1 Released 10 February 2026. This page prints no servicing end date for this version: Microsoft publishes servicing end dates on its Windows release health page, and no servicing end date for 26H1 is published on that page.
Version 25H2 Released 30 September 2025. Serviced until 13 October 2027.
Version 24H2 Released 1 October 2024. Serviced until 14 October 2026.
Version 23H2 Released 31 October 2023. Servicing ended 12 November 2025.
Version 22H2 Released 20 September 2022. Servicing ended 9 October 2024.
Version 21H2 Released 4 October 2021. Servicing ended 11 October 2023.

Frequently Asked Questions — Windows 11 Home

Does this licence expire?

No. The licence is perpetual. What expires is the Windows VERSION installed on the machine. Microsoft services each Windows 11 Home version for 24 months from its release date, so staying supported means taking the annual feature update. The servicing table in the first section gives the published dates for every version, and points you at Microsoft's release health page where a date is not printed here.

Will it run on my machine?

Only if the machine meets every line of Microsoft's minimum requirements, and the two that stop most upgrades are TPM 2.0 and UEFI Secure Boot capability. A machine that predates those is not made eligible by buying a licence. Check with Microsoft's PC Health Check app before ordering.

Do I need a Microsoft account?

Microsoft's specifications page states that Windows 11 Pro for personal use and Windows 11 Home require internet connectivity and a Microsoft account during initial device setup. Microsoft's Learn requirements page states the same for Home. We quote both because the two pages differ in scope.

Can I move this licence to a different computer later?

Microsoft's terms for stand-alone software permit transfer to another device you own, with the software removed from the previous one. This differs from an OEM licence, which Microsoft's terms tie to the device it was supplied with. See the licence terms table above and the two Microsoft PDFs linked in the documentation section.

What is this page based on?

Microsoft's own published documentation, listed in full in the Official Microsoft Documentation section above: the Windows 11 specifications page, the requirements and Home-and-Pro lifecycle pages on Microsoft Learn, the Windows release health page, the Windows lifecycle FAQ, Microsoft's Home-versus-Pro comparison, and Microsoft's licence terms PDFs. This listing is retail full packaged product, and the licence terms set out above are the ones Microsoft publishes for stand-alone software rather than for OEM. Microsoft's consumer comparison publishes a security table only, so the Home-and-Pro differences stated here are the ones Microsoft documents and no others. Where Microsoft publishes nothing we can cite — a mapping from distributor part numbers to product names, for instance — this page says so rather than filling the gap.
