Lenovo Essential Wireless Combo Keyboard & Mouse Gen2 Black
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Lenovo Essential Wireless Combo Keyboard & Mouse Gen 2 (4X31R64453) - Local Warranty
A 3-Year Warranty and 65% Recycled Plastic, on a Wireless Combo
The Lenovo Essential Wireless Combo Gen 2 is unusual for its price: Lenovo publishes a 3-year limited hardware warranty with global product support and 65% post-consumer recycled plastic in the covers. Most accessories at this level carry one year and no recycled-content figure at all.
2.4 GHz Wireless With a Microsoft Copilot Key
It connects over a 2.4 GHz wireless receiver and the keyboard is a slim 2.5-zone layout with a numeric keypad, quiet keys and a dedicated Microsoft Copilot key. The mouse is standard-size.
The Hot Keys Need a Driver, Which Is Worth Knowing in Advance
Lenovo states that the keyboard's hot keys require a driver download to enable. On a locked-down corporate image where users cannot install software, the F-key media controls will not work out of the box. That is a deployment question rather than a fault, and it is much easier to answer before the boxes are opened.
Two Lenovo Products Share This Name — Read Which One You Are Buying
Lenovo publishes a full datasheet for an "Essential Wireless Combo Keyboard and Mouse Gen 2" covering part numbers 4X31N50708 to 4X31N50757. This part number, 4X31R64453, is not in that range — Lenovo's own name for it is "Gen2 AI". The two are closely related but Lenovo has never said they share hardware, so we have not copied the datasheet's DPI, battery and dimension figures onto this page.
Specification note. Lenovo does not publish PSREF specification sheets for most of its accessories, and for several products in this range it publishes very little at all. Every figure on this page comes from a named Lenovo document — a product datasheet, a Lenovo brochure or Lenovo's own product page — and the source is linked below. Where Lenovo publishes no figure, this page says so. Reseller listings for these products circulate detailed specifications that we could not trace to Lenovo, and we have left those out rather than repeat them. If a particular figure decides your purchase, ask us and we will get it confirmed by Lenovo before you order. Specifications and prices are subject to change by Lenovo without notice.

| Why we are not filling these in | Lenovo publishes a detailed datasheet for a closely-related Gen 2 combo covering part numbers 4X31N50708 to 4X31N50757. This part number is not in that range and Lenovo has never stated that the two share hardware. Copying those figures here would look authoritative and might be wrong |
What the Related Gen 2 Datasheet Says — for Reference Only
| Applies To | Lenovo part numbers 4X31N50708 to 4X31N50757, not to this part number |
| Why we show it | So you can see what the closely-related product specifies, and judge for yourself whether to ask us to confirm any of it for this SKU before ordering |
| Those Figures | Optical mouse at 1600 DPI, 3 buttons, ambidextrous; keyboard with 19.05 mm key pitch, up to 10 million clicks, spill resistant, 2.8 mm key travel; keyboard 1 x AAA and mouse 1 x AA cell, both included, 15 and 18 months of life; USB-A nano receiver, not replaceable if lost; keyboard 422 x 134 x 22 mm at 403 g, mouse 110 x 61 x 36 mm at 65 g |
| Our Position | Do not order on the strength of those figures. Ask us which of them you need confirmed for 4X31R64453 and we will get a written answer from Lenovo first |
Compatibility & Fit
A word about USB-A dongles and modern laptops. Lenovo's 2.4 GHz wireless input devices connect through a USB-A nano receiver. Many current laptops — including several ThinkPads — have few or no USB-A ports, so check the machine before you order. A USB-C adapter solves it, or a dock; the ThinkPad and Lenovo docks in our range all provide USB-A ports. The one device in this range that avoids the problem entirely is the Wireless Multi-Mode Pro Combo 6000, which also does Bluetooth.
The two things Lenovo does publish for this exact SKU are both good ones. A 3-year warranty with global product support is longer than most Lenovo accessories carry, and 65% post-consumer recycled plastic is a figure that helps in a tender with environmental scoring. Neither is common at this price.
Plan for the hot-key driver. Lenovo states the F-key media controls need a driver download. If your users cannot install software, either get the driver into the standard image before the keyboards are deployed, or accept that the media keys will not work. It is a five-minute conversation with IT that avoids a hundred support tickets.
Why we have left so much blank. There are two Lenovo products called "Essential Wireless Combo Keyboard and Mouse Gen 2". One has a full datasheet, covering part numbers 4X31N50708 to 4X31N50757. This is not one of them — Lenovo calls this one "Gen2 AI". The specifications are probably similar and the temptation to copy them across is obvious, but Lenovo has never said the two share hardware, and a specification you cannot source is not a specification. Tell us which figures matter to you and we will get them confirmed for this exact part number.
If losing the dongle would be a problem, ask before you buy. Lenovo's brochure states that the receiver on the related Gen 2 combo is not replaceable — lose it and the combo is scrap. We do not know whether the same applies to this part number. The older Professional Wireless Combo in the ordering table explicitly does offer dongle replacement, which for a fleet is worth real money.

Datasheet & Downloads
- Lenovo Essential Wireless Combo Keyboard & Mouse Gen2 AI product page
- Lenovo Essential Wireless Combo Keyboard and Mouse Gen 2 datasheet (PDF) — covers 4X31N50708 to 4X31N50757, not this part number
Two Lenovo documents are linked above and it matters which is which. The product page is for this part number and is thin. The datasheet is for a closely-related Gen 2 combo covering part numbers 4X31N50708 to 4X31N50757 — not this SKU. We have linked it for reference rather than treating its figures as this product's specification.
Frequently Asked Questions — Lenovo Essential Wireless Combo Keyboard & Mouse Gen 2
How long is the warranty?
3 years, with global product support — Lenovo publishes it for this part number. That is longer than most accessories in this range, several of which carry one year or publish no term at all.
Do the hot keys work out of the box?
No. Lenovo states the hot keys require a driver download to enable. On a locked-down corporate image where users cannot install software, get the driver into the standard build before deployment or the F-key media controls will not work.
What DPI is the mouse, and do batteries come with it?
Lenovo does not publish either for this part number. A closely-related Lenovo combo — part numbers 4X31N50708 to 4X31N50757 — has a full datasheet giving 1600 DPI and included AAA and AA cells, but this SKU is not in that range and Lenovo has never said they share hardware. Tell us which figures you need and we will get them confirmed.
Can I replace the wireless receiver if I lose it?
Lenovo does not publish an answer for this part number. Its brochure states that the receiver on the closely-related Gen 2 combo is not replaceable, which would mean losing it makes the combo unusable. The older Professional Wireless Combo in the ordering table does offer dongle replacement. If this matters for a fleet, ask us before you order.
Does it have Bluetooth?
No — Lenovo publishes a 2.4 GHz wireless receiver only. The Wireless Multi-Mode Pro Combo 6000 in the ordering table is the model in this range that also does Bluetooth, and connects to three devices.
Is it environmentally certified?
Lenovo publishes 65% post-consumer recycled plastic for this part number. It publishes no formal certification such as EPEAT or TCO for it, so we claim none.
