The HPE Aruba Networking AP-615 (RW) is a dual-radio, tri-band 2x2 Wi-Fi 6E indoor campus access point: its two radios can be tuned to any two of the three bands — 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz or 6 GHz. HPE rates it at up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, 1.2 Gbps on 5 GHz and 2.4 Gbps on 6 GHz, for up to 3.6 Gbps combined (5 GHz + 6 GHz).
Operating in 6 GHz gives Wi-Fi 6E clients access to up to seven 160 MHz channels, away from congested legacy bands.
2.5 Gbps Smart Rate Uplink
A single HPE Smart Rate Ethernet port auto-negotiates 100/1000/2500BASE-T, so the AP can deliver more than Gigabit throughput over existing copper cabling.
Self-Locating with Built-In GPS and IoT Radio
Built-in GPS receivers (GPS, Galileo, GLONASS and BeiDou) and fine time measurement allow APs to locate themselves automatically. An integrated Bluetooth 5 and 802.15.4 radio adds Zigbee IoT support, and the USB 2.0 port can source up to 5W.
Deploy It Your Way: Cloud, Controller or Stand-Alone
HPE lists the AP-615 as able to run stand-alone (Instant) or with a gateway or controller for greater scalability, security and manageability, managed from HPE Aruba Networking Central in the cloud or on-premises.

Management Options
Managed through HPE Aruba Networking Central (cloud or on-premises), or with an HPE Aruba Networking gateway/controller. HPE lists minimum software as InstantOS 8.11.0.0 and AOS 10.5.0.0. Ask us about Central licensing for your deployment.
PoE Switch Requirement
Use an 802.3at (class 4) port for unrestricted operation. On 802.3af (class 3) the AP runs in restricted mode with USB disabled.

Does the AP-615 use all three bands at once?
No. It has two radios that can be tuned to any two of the three bands (2.4, 5 or 6 GHz). For three simultaneous radios, see the AP-635.
What is the maximum data rate?
Up to 3.6 Gbps combined when operating on 5 GHz and 6 GHz.
What PoE does it need?
802.3at (class 4) for unrestricted operation; on 802.3af (class 3) it runs in restricted mode with USB disabled.
Does my client device need Wi-Fi 6E?
To use the 6 GHz band, yes. Older Wi-Fi 6/5 clients still connect on 2.4 or 5 GHz.
