4x4 Wi-Fi 6 Performance for Medium-to-High Density
The HPE Aruba Networking AP-515 (RW) is a dual-radio 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6) indoor campus access point with a 4x4 MIMO 5 GHz radio and a 2x2 MIMO 2.4 GHz radio. HPE rates it at up to 4.8 Gbps on 5 GHz (4SS HE160) and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, with a combined peak data rate of up to 2.69 Gbps.
It supports up to 512 associated client devices per radio and up to 16 BSSIDs per radio.
2.5 Gbps Smart Rate Uplink
Port E0 is an HPE Smart Rate port that negotiates up to 2.5 Gbps over existing copper cabling and accepts PoE; a second Gigabit port (E1) is also provided. This avoids the Gigabit bottleneck that can limit a 4x4 Wi-Fi 6 AP.
Wi-Fi 6 Efficiency and IoT Ready
OFDMA, multi-user MIMO and Target Wake Time improve efficiency and client battery life. An integrated Bluetooth 5 and Zigbee (802.15.4) radio supports IoT and location services, and the USB 2.0 host port can supply up to 5W.
Deploy It Your Way: Cloud, Controller or Stand-Alone
HPE lists the AP-515 as able to run stand-alone (Instant) or with a gateway or controller for greater scalability, security and manageability, managed from HPE Aruba Networking Central in the cloud or on-premises.

Compatibility & Software Support
What It Is Suited To
Busy offices, lecture rooms, healthcare and hospitality areas where many Wi-Fi 6 clients connect at once and a multi-gigabit uplink is needed. Pair it with an HPE Aruba Networking CX or Instant On PoE switch that can deliver the PoE class listed in the specifications.
Management Options
Managed through HPE Aruba Networking Central (cloud or on-premises), or with an HPE Aruba Networking gateway/controller. HPE lists minimum software as InstantOS / AOS 8.4.0.0 (with some restrictions), with 8.6.0.0 or later for unrestricted operation. Ask us about Central licensing for your deployment.
PoE Switch Requirement
For full, unrestricted operation use an 802.3at (class 4) or 802.3bt PoE port — ideally a multi-gigabit (2.5GbE) port to use the Smart Rate uplink.
