Cable-Free BTF Power Delivery
The BTF (Back-To-the-Future) edition has no 16-pin socket on top of the card. Power comes through a GC-HPWR gold-finger connector next to the PCIe slot, so the card draws power straight from a BTF motherboard and the 16-pin cable disappears from view. It is the cleanest way to run an RTX 5090 in a showcase build.
Quad-Fan Cooling with Patented Vapor Chamber
ROG Astral is ASUS's first quad-fan graphics card. The fourth fan lets ASUS pack the heatsink fins more densely and, by ASUS's figures, raises air pressure by up to 20%. A patented vapor chamber with milled heatpipe channels, ASUS MaxContact (5% more heat-spreader contact area) and a phase-change GPU thermal pad move heat away from the RTX 5090 die.
Built-in Health Monitoring
Embedded sensors across the VRMs, chokes and VRAM feed a thermal map in ASUS GPU Tweak III, and 80-amp MOSFETs give over 35% more headroom than the reference design.
Built to Last
Die-cast frame, shroud and backplate, a 304 stainless-steel I/O bracket, ASUS GPU Guard adhesive on all four GPU corners plus a metal GPU bracket, and a conformal PCB coating against moisture and dust. A dual BIOS switch gives you Performance or Quiet fan behaviour at the same power target.

Motherboard (Important)
Requires an ASUS BTF motherboard with a GC-HPWR connector beside the PCIe x16 slot, such as the ROG / TUF / PRIME BTF boards. It will not receive power in a standard motherboard.
Power Supply
ASUS recommends a 1000W PSU for a fully overclocked system. The PSU feeds the motherboard's GC-HPWR input rather than the card directly.
Case Fit
Choose a BTF-ready case with rear motherboard connector cut-outs. The card is 357.6mm long and 3.8 slots thick.

Frequently Asked Questions — ASUS ROG Astral RTX 5090 BTF
Will this work on my normal motherboard?
No. The BTF edition is powered through a GC-HPWR edge connector and needs an ASUS BTF motherboard with that connector. For a standard board, choose the regular ROG Astral RTX 5090.
Do I still need a 16-pin cable from the PSU?
The PSU powers the motherboard's GC-HPWR input on the back of the board; there is no cable to the card itself.
Is performance different from the standard ROG Astral?
No. ASUS lists identical clocks, cooling and dimensions; only the power-delivery method differs.
What warranty do I get?
