PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

ASUS NUC 16 Pro (RNUC16GDKX76C4N3) - Intel Core Ultra X7 358H / Arc B390 / 32GB LPDDR5x-9600 / 1TB SSD / Windows 11 Pro - 3 Years Onsite Local Warranty

A 0.7-litre business mini PC built on Intel's Panther Lake platform: a 16-core Core Ultra X7 358H, an Intel Arc B390 integrated GPU with 12 Xe-cores, 32GB of soldered LPDDR5x-9600, a 1TB NVMe SSD, and - unusually for this size - dual Intel 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet ports. 144 × 117 × 42 mm, 910 g, VESA bracket in the box.

A Copilot+ PC, which most mini PCs this size are not

Intel rates the NPU in the Core Ultra X7 358H at 50 peak TOPS, comfortably past the 40 TOPS Microsoft requires, and the 32GB of memory clears the 16GB minimum. If your organisation has a Copilot+ requirement in its hardware standard, this machine meets it. Copilot+ features are supported on Windows 11 Pro as well as Home.

Three AI engines, and it is worth knowing which does what

Panther Lake splits AI work across the CPU, the GPU and a dedicated NPU. Intel publishes 50 peak TOPS (INT8) for the NPU and 122 peak TOPS for the Arc B390 GPU. The NPU is the low-power one - it runs background inference such as Windows Studio Effects, live captions and Copilot+ features without draining the rest of the system. The GPU is the heavy lifter for local model inference, computer vision and anything batched. For an edge AI or inference deployment, the GPU figure is the one that matters; for always-on assistant features, the NPU is.

Dual 2.5GbE is the reason to choose this over a generic mini PC

Two independent Intel I226-V 2.5 Gigabit controllers, not one port and a USB dongle. That makes the NUC 16 Pro directly usable as a firewall, router, network appliance, edge gateway or segmented IoT/OT bridge - roles a single-NIC mini PC simply cannot fill. Both are Intel silicon, which matters for pfSense, OPNsense, Proxmox and VMware compatibility, and for enterprise imaging where Realtek NICs are a recurring nuisance.

Intel 18A silicon

The compute die is built on Intel 18A - Intel's first high-volume node using RibbonFET gate-all-around transistors and PowerVia backside power delivery - with the graphics die on TSMC N3E. Sixteen cores in three tiers: 4 performance cores, 8 efficient cores and 4 low-power efficient cores that handle background work at very low draw. Note that core count equals thread count: 16 cores, 16 threads, no Hyper-Threading. Size per-thread licensing against 16.

Fast memory, but soldered - decide the capacity now

32GB of LPDDR5x-9600 delivers considerably more bandwidth than the DDR5-5600 SO-DIMM configurations elsewhere in the NUC 16 Pro range, which is exactly what a 12 Xe-core integrated GPU wants, since it feeds from system memory. The trade-off is that it is soldered to the board and cannot be upgraded, ever. If you expect to need 64GB, buy the X9 388H 64GB variant instead; if you need user-upgradeable memory, the Core Ultra 7 356H and Ultra 5 325 models use SO-DIMMs. Ask SourceIT and we will price the alternatives beside this one.

Tool-less service, MIL-STD-810H, and fleet management

ASUS's "tool-less 2.0" chassis uses lever-action catches and spring-loaded hinges for one-hand access to the M.2 storage. Cooling is dual-exhaust CPU fans over multiple heat pipes. The chassis passes MIL-STD-810H, carries a Kensington lock slot and firmware TPM 2.0, and is managed through ASUS Control Center for remote monitoring and fleet control. Intel vPro is available on selected SKUs - confirm with SourceIT whether this configuration carries it before you build it into a management standard.

Four 4K displays from a 0.7-litre box

Two Thunderbolt 4 Type-C ports with DisplayPort 2.1, plus two HDMI 2.1 FRL outputs, drive up to four 4K displays. With the VESA bracket supplied in the box, that makes this a natural fit for signage controllers, kiosks, dealing desks and any multi-screen deployment where the PC needs to disappear behind the monitor.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a Copilot+ PC?
Yes. The Core Ultra X7 358H's NPU is rated by Intel at 50 peak TOPS, above Microsoft's 40 TOPS requirement, and the 32 GB of memory clears the 16 GB minimum. Copilot+ features are supported on Windows 11 Pro as well as Home.

How does this compare to the other NUC 16 Pro models?
All four share the chassis, cooling, dual 2.5GbE, Thunderbolt 4, Wi-Fi 7 and 3-year onsite warranty. The X9 388H models run to 5.1 GHz instead of 4.8 GHz with identical graphics, NPU and memory - the X9 64GB is the only way to get 64 GB. The Ultra 7 356H and Ultra 5 325 models use Intel Graphics rather than Arc B390 and 16 GB DDR5 SO-DIMM, so they are slower but user-upgradeable. Soldered LPDDR5x buys bandwidth and the Arc B390 GPU; SO-DIMM buys the ability to add memory later. You cannot have both in this range.

Can I upgrade the memory later?
No. The 32 GB of LPDDR5x-9600 is soldered to the mainboard - that is what allows the 9600 MT/s speed the Arc B390 GPU needs. If upgradeability matters more than bandwidth, the Ultra 7 356H and Ultra 5 325 models in this range use SO-DIMMs instead. Decide before you order; it cannot be changed afterwards.

Why two Ethernet ports?
So the machine can sit between two networks. Two independent Intel I226-V 2.5 Gigabit controllers let it work as a firewall, router, edge gateway or OT/IT segmentation bridge. Both are Intel silicon, which is what pfSense, OPNsense, Proxmox and most enterprise imaging tools prefer.

What is this machine actually for?
Edge AI and local inference, network appliance and firewall duty, digital signage and kiosks, multi-display trading or control-room desks, virtualisation and development, and Copilot+ standard fleets. The combination of 122 GPU TOPS, dual Intel 2.5GbE and four 4K outputs in 0.7 litres is unusual at this price.

Does it really do 180 TOPS?
Not this model. ASUS's "up to 180 TOPS" headline is quoted for the Core Ultra X9 configuration. For this X7 358H, Intel publishes 50 TOPS on the NPU and 122 TOPS on the Arc B390 GPU. We would rather print the two figures Intel stands behind than a platform total from a different processor.

How many monitors can it drive?
Up to four 4K displays, across two Thunderbolt 4 ports with DisplayPort 2.1 and two HDMI 2.1 FRL outputs.

Does it have 16 or 22 threads?
16. Four performance cores, eight efficient cores and four low-power efficient cores, with no Hyper-Threading - so threads match cores exactly.

Can I add a second SSD?
Yes. There are two M.2 slots supporting PCIe Gen5 and Gen4, reachable without tools, and ASUS supports up to 8 TB of total storage. We can supply and fit the drive before delivery.

Is this the same chassis as the ROG NUC?
No, and it is a very different machine. The ROG NUC is a 3-litre gaming and workstation box with a discrete NVIDIA GPU and a 280-380 W adapter. This is a 0.7-litre business mini PC with integrated Arc graphics, dual 2.5GbE and Copilot+ certification. Different jobs entirely.

Sourcing Notes & Points to Verify

SourceIT builds listings from independent sources - the distributor build sheet, the system vendor and the silicon vendor - and prints the disagreements rather than smoothing them over.

The 180 TOPS figure ASUS markets "up to 180 TOPS for real-time Edge AI" on the NUC 16 Pro range, and states it against the Core Ultra X9 configuration. An earlier revision of this listing repeated that figure for the X7. Intel's published figures for the X7 358H are 50 TOPS (NPU) and 122 TOPS (Arc B390 GPU); we now print those instead
Processor power An earlier revision of this listing quoted "~65 W TDP". ASUS quotes cTDP 65 W against the Core Ultra X9 388H and 45 W against the Ultra 5 models, but does not publish a cTDP for the X7 358H in this chassis. Intel's figures for the part are 25 W base power and 80 W maximum turbo power
Power adapter wattage Neither ASUS's specification page nor the distributor build sheet publishes the adapter wattage for this SKU - both confirm only that an adapter and power cord are included. An earlier revision estimated "120-150 W". We have removed the estimate. If you are sizing a UPS or a shared circuit to a precise figure, ask us to confirm with the distributor
Memory ceiling ASUS's specification page gives a 128 GB maximum for the NUC 16 Pro range via dual SO-DIMM slots. That does not apply to this SKU, whose memory is soldered LPDDR5x. Intel's platform ceiling for the X7 358H is 96 GB. Neither figure is reachable on this configuration - it is 32 GB, fixed
Intel vPro ASUS states vPro is available on selected SKUs but does not identify which. If remote out-of-band management is a requirement, ask SourceIT to confirm for this part number before you order
Chassis dimensions ASUS's marketing page describes a "5 × 4 inch form factor" alongside a set of dimensions belonging to a different chassis. The distributor build sheet and ASUS's own technical specification agree on 144 × 117 × 42 mm and 910 g, which is what we have printed
Display outputs ASUS's page notes DisplayPort as an optional configuration on some variants. On this SKU the two DisplayPort 2.1 outputs are delivered over the Thunderbolt 4 Type-C ports, as confirmed by the distributor build sheet - there are no dedicated DisplayPort connectors
