PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Allied Telesis AT-SPSX 1000BASE-SX Multi-Mode SFP - Local Warranty

Short-Reach Gigabit Fiber Links

The AT-SPSX is a Gigabit (1000BASE-SX) SFP module for multi-mode fiber, giving switches, routers and media converters an economical way to run fiber links of up to 550 m inside a building or across a small campus.

850 nm Optics with Duplex LC

It transmits at 850 nm over a duplex LC connector. Reach is 220 to 550 m depending on the grade of multi-mode cable installed, with the longest runs achieved on 50/125 µm fiber.

Hot-Swappable and MSA-Compliant

The module plugs into any SFP slot without powering down the host and includes a self-locking mechanism. Because it follows the SFP Multi-Source Agreement, it works in Allied Telesis devices with SFP ports as well as other MSA-compliant platforms.

Broad Allied Telesis Compatibility

Allied Telesis lists the SPSX as an applicable optic for a wide range of its switches, firewalls and media converters, including the x530, x530L, x330, x230, GS970EMX, GS980MX and the MMC and MCF3000 media converter families.

Features & Applications

Key Features

Hot-swappable, plug-and-play installation; self-locking mechanism; MSA-compliant form factor; full-duplex Gigabit Ethernet over multi-mode fiber.

Typical Deployments

Switch-to-switch uplinks between wiring closets, links from access switches to a building core, and fiber ports on Allied Telesis media converters where the existing cabling is multi-mode.

Selection Tip

Choose the SPSX for standard-temperature indoor use on multi-mode fiber. For a TAA-compliant, industrial-temperature version with DDM pick the SPSX/I-90 or SPSX-90; for extended temperature pick the SPSX/E. For single-mode runs up to 10 km choose the SPLX10a.

Frequently Asked Questions — Allied Telesis AT-SPSX

How far can the AT-SPSX reach?

Up to 550 m over multi-mode fiber. Allied Telesis specifies 220–550 m, as the achievable distance depends on the multi-mode cable grade.

Does it work with single-mode fiber?

No. It is an 850 nm multi-mode optic. For single-mode fiber use the AT-SPLX10a (10 km) or AT-SPLX40 (40 km).

Can I use it in non-Allied Telesis equipment?

The SP Series is MSA-compliant, so Allied Telesis states it can be used with other MSA-compliant platforms that support SFP ports. Allied Telesis also publishes an SFP compatibility flyer for Cisco switches.

Is the AT-SPSX TAA compliant?

The ordering table does not mark the AT-SPSX as TAA compliant. The AT-SPSX-90 is the TAA-compliant 1000SX version.

What warranty do I get?

Supplied by SourceIT with local warranty and a GST invoice.
