Allied Telesis AT-MMC2000/SC-960 Gigabit Copper to 1000SX SC Multi-Mode Mini Media and Rate Converter, TAA
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Allied Telesis AT-MMC2000/SC-960 Gigabit Mini Media & Rate Converter - Local Warranty
Copper to Multi-Mode Fiber at Gigabit Speed
The AT-MMC2000/SC-960 joins a 10/100/1000T RJ-45 copper port to a 1000SX multi-mode fiber port with a fixed SC connector, letting you carry Gigabit Ethernet up to 550 m over 50/125 µm fiber where copper cabling would fall short.
Converts Speed as Well as Media
Store-and-forward switching means the copper side can connect at 10, 100 or 1000 Mbps while the fiber side runs at Gigabit, so older devices can still be linked onto a Gigabit fiber backbone.
Faster Fault Finding
Smart MissingLink passes link loss from one side to the other so failed segments are flagged quickly, Far End Fault signalling works on the fiber link, and a built-in link test helps pinpoint which cable or end node has the problem. Smart Link Restoration brings the link back automatically after a power or link interruption.
Tiny, Efficient and Secure to Power
Measuring about 5.6 x 10.2 x 2.2 cm and drawing around 1.7 W, the unit fits on a desk, behind a display or on a wall. A locking power jack helps prevent accidental unplugging, and the -960 version ships with a multi-region AC power supply and is TAA compliant.

Features & Applications
Key Features
Speed and media conversion; store-and-forward switching; Smart MissingLink; Smart Link Restoration; Far End Fault on fiber; link test; IEEE 802.1Q transparency; 10K jumbo frames; EEE on the copper port; locking 12 VDC power jack; TAA-compliant -960 model.
Typical Deployments
Fiber-to-the-desk connections, linking a remote Gigabit device or switch over existing multi-mode fiber, extending past the 100 m copper limit between buildings or floors, and densely mounted conversion in an MMCR18 chassis or MMCTRAY6 rack tray.
Selection Tip
Choose the MMC2000/SC when your multi-mode fiber ends in SC connectors. Pick the MMC2000/LC or MMC2000/ST for LC or ST cabling, the MMC2000LX/SC for single-mode up to 20 km, the MMC2000/SP to fit your own SFP, or the MMC200/SC for Fast Ethernet links up to 2 km.

Frequently Asked Questions — Allied Telesis AT-MMC2000/SC-960
How far can I run the fiber link?
Up to 550 m on 50/125 µm (OM2/OM3) multi-mode fiber, or up to 220 m on 62.5/125 µm (FDDI/OM1).
Will it connect a 100 Mbps device?
Yes. The copper port is 10/100/1000T with auto-negotiation, and the converter changes speed as well as media, so a 10 or 100 Mbps device can talk over the Gigabit fiber link.
Does it pass VLAN-tagged traffic?
Yes. It is transparent to IEEE 802.1Q packets and supports jumbo frames up to 10K bytes.
Can it be rack- or wall-mounted?
Yes, using the optional AT-MMCTRAY6 rack tray, the AT-MMCR18 chassis or the AT-MMCWLMT wall-mount kit.
What warranty do I get?
Supplied by SourceIT with local warranty and a GST invoice.
