Jabra Evolve3 vs Yealink BH78: Are You Paying More Just for the Brand?

Yes, you pay more for a Jabra Evolve3 than for a Yealink BH78, but you are not paying for the logo alone. At SourceIT the over-ear Yealink BH78 MS is S$318.60 with its charging base in the box, while the Jabra Evolve3 75 starts at S$360.00 and the Jabra Evolve3 85 at S$450.00 (S$495.60 with the wireless charging pad), prices as listed on 24 Oct 2026. The extra money buys a boomless design, wireless charging, a user-replaceable battery and Jabra's management tools. The BH78 answers with the deepest rated ANC, the longest talk time and a hidden boom microphone, for roughly two-thirds of the price.

This article compares the whole Jabra Evolve3 series against Yealink's single flagship, so you can decide where the premium earns its keep and where it does not.

What does the Jabra premium actually buy?

Strip away the badge and the Evolve3 premium comes down to five things you can point at.

  • No boom arm on the 75 and 85. Jabra moved the microphones into the earcup and relies on ClearVoice, its deep-neural-network voice processing, to separate your voice from the room. Jabra calls this a significant step up from the boom-arm Evolve2 75 and 85. If your people dislike a microphone in front of their face on camera, this is the feature they will notice.
  • Wireless charging. Both models charge on any Qi pad, and the "with Stand" bundles include Jabra's charging pad.
  • A battery you can replace. Jabra sells the Evolve3 battery as a spare part, so a headset whose cell has faded after a few years can be refreshed rather than scrapped. That matters for a fleet you plan to keep beyond the warranty.
  • LE Audio and Spatial Sound. Jabra lists Bluetooth LE Audio on both, and Spatial Sound on the 85.
  • Jabra's software estate. Jabra Direct for users and Jabra Xpress for IT-managed rollouts are mature, and many Singapore IT teams already run them for earlier Evolve2 fleets.

What the premium does not buy is more battery or deeper rated ANC. On both counts the BH78 has the bigger numbers.

Where does the Yealink BH78 match or beat the Evolve3?

Yealink rates the Yealink BH78 MS at up to 38 hours of talk time with ANC and busylight off and 27 hours with both on, which is more than either Evolve3 even in Yealink's worst case. Its Adaptive Hybrid ANC is rated at up to 35 dB, with Medium, Adaptive and Ambient Sound modes, and four of its six microphones run AI uplink noise cancellation that Yealink says removes up to 98 per cent of background distraction. The boom is hidden and retractable, so you get boom-mic pickup when you want it and a clean look when you do not. Wearing detection, dual busylights, a 3.5 mm cable and the BHC78 charging base are in the box, so there is nothing extra to buy. The rated range is 50 m against Jabra's 30 m.

The trade-offs are weight (245 g against 220 g for the Evolve3 85 and 180 g for the Evolve3 75), no wireless charging and a battery that is not designed to be swapped by the user.

The Evolve3 premium pays for design and lifecycle. The BH78 discount pays for battery and ANC headroom. Decide which your users will actually feel.

Is a boomless microphone good enough for calls?

For most office and home settings, yes, and Jabra says the Evolve3 75 and 85 meet Microsoft's Open Office requirements in their Teams variants. Physics still applies: a boom close to the mouth collects more voice relative to the room than an earcup array. In a loud contact centre or a trading floor, a boom is the safer choice, which is why Jabra kept one on the Evolve3 65 and 45. The BH78 gives you both options in one headset by pulling the boom out only when the room is noisy. If your users mostly sit in quiet rooms or at home, the boomless Evolve3 is comfortable and tidy; if they take calls beside a pantry or a printer, look at a boom.

Which Evolve3 model compares with the BH78?

The fair head-to-head is the over-ear Jabra Evolve3 85 MS, covered in detail in Jabra Evolve3 85 vs Yealink BH78. If your users prefer a lighter on-ear fit, the Jabra Evolve3 75 MS at 180 g is the more comfortable choice and closes the price gap to S$41.40. Below that, the Evolve3 65 (from S$308.04 mono) brings back a boom arm and Jabra rates it at up to 31 hours of talk time, and the foldable Evolve3 65 Flex (S$376.68) suits travellers. If the real question is whether to step down to an on-ear Yealink, read Jabra Evolve3 75 vs Yealink BH74.

What does the price gap look like across a team?

A labelled example at today's listed prices, for 20 managers who each get a headset with a charging dock:

  • 20 x Jabra Evolve3 85 MS with pad at S$495.60 = S$9,912.00
  • 20 x Yealink BH78 MS with base at S$318.60 = S$6,372.00
  • Difference: S$3,540.00, about S$177 per person

Whether S$177 a head is worth it depends on how long you keep the headsets and how much the boomless look matters to your users. Over a five-year life the replaceable Evolve3 battery can offset part of the gap; over a three-year refresh cycle it rarely does. Volume pricing changes these figures, so ask for a quote before deciding.

Do both work with Microsoft Teams and Zoom?

Both brands sell MS variants with a dedicated Teams button: the MS Evolve3 SKUs carry Teams certification, and Yealink sells the BH78 in its MS (Teams) version. The UC variants are for Zoom, Google Meet, Webex and other softphones. Pick MS if Microsoft 365 is your standard. For the full range of options, see the Teams certified headsets collection.

So, are you paying more just for the brand?

Not just for the brand, but partly. Choose the Evolve3 if your users dislike booms, you want wireless charging and replaceable batteries, or your IT team already manages Jabra. Choose the BH78 if battery life, ANC depth and cost per seat matter more, or you want a boom available when the office gets loud.
