HP Poly Focus 625 vs Voyager Focus 2: Is It Finally Time to Upgrade?

If your Voyager Focus 2 headsets are running out of battery before the end of the day, yes, the HP Poly Focus 625 is a worthwhile upgrade: HP rates it at up to 25 hours of talk time with ANC and the online indicator on, against 16 hours for the Focus 2 at the same settings. It also adds Acoustic Fence 2.0, a hideaway boom, a Transparency mode, a replaceable battery and a foldable option. If your Focus 2 fleet is working fine, there is no rush. At SourceIT the Focus 625 is S$329.23 and the Voyager Focus 2 is S$314.05, only S$15.18 apart, prices as listed on 25 Oct 2026.

Figures from HP's product specifications for each model. Some HP pages list the Focus 625's Bluetooth as Core 6.0; the Focus 6 datasheet says 5.4.

Battery: the main reason to upgrade

The Voyager Focus 2's ANC is good, but using it costs battery: HP rates 16 hours of talk with ANC and the online indicator on, which is how HP ships it by default. The Focus 625 raises that to 25 hours, so heavy callers can leave ANC on all week. The quick charge is also faster: 10 minutes on a cable gives up to four hours of talk. For anyone who has had a Focus 2 die mid-afternoon, this is the upgrade that matters.

Microphone: Acoustic Fence 2.0 and the hideaway boom

Both use a boom with Poly's Acoustic Fence. HP says version 2.0 on the Focus 625 builds on earlier implementations to further reduce nearby distracting sounds, with enhanced noise reduction, using four of its six microphones for your voice. The boom now hides in the earcup when you are not on a call and rotates 135° when you are. HP lists Microsoft Teams Open Office certification for the Focus 625. The Focus 2 also meets Microsoft's Open Office Premium microphone spec according to HP, so the Focus 2 is not weak here; the Focus 625 refines it.

The Focus 2 is still a good headset. The Focus 625 is the one you won't have to charge by lunchtime.

ANC and connectivity

The Focus 2 lets you choose high, low or off ANC. The Focus 625 has hybrid ANC with a dedicated button for Transparency mode, so you can hear a colleague without taking the headset off. Both ship with the BT700 USB-C adapter and a USB-C to A adapter, and both are rated at up to 50 m. The Focus 625 moves to a newer Bluetooth generation, connects to two devices at once and remembers up to ten. It is managed through HP's Poly Studio app.

What do you give up?

Weight. The Focus 625 is 208 g against 175 g for the Focus 2, so it is noticeably heavier on the head. HP offsets this with soft cushions and a pressure-relief gap in the headband, but try one before you replace a whole team's headsets.

Should your company upgrade now?

  • Buying new headsets: choose the Focus 625. At S$15.18 more than the Focus 2, the battery and design gains are easy to justify.
  • Existing Focus 2 fleet that works: keep it, and move new hires and replacements to the Focus 625.
  • Heavy callers complaining about battery: upgrade them first.
  • Weight-sensitive users: the Focus 2 remains the lighter option while stock lasts.
