TP-Link Deco X80-5G 5G Whole Home Wi-Fi 6 Gateway (1-Pack)
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
TP-Link 5G Whole Home Wi-Fi 6 Gateway (Deco X80-5G) - 3 Years Local Warranty
A Deco node with a 5G modem built in. The X80-5G takes a mobile data service as its internet connection, adds a 2.5 Gbps and a Gigabit Ethernet port, and publishes an RJ11 phone port for VoLTE calling. Dual-band Wi-Fi 6 at 4804 Mbps on 5 GHz and 1148 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, and it meshes with other Deco units.
5G or 4G as the Internet Connection
TP-Link publishes "Supports Sub-6 GHz 5G technology boosts download speeds up to 5.0 Gbps§" and "5G brings responsive network connections with only 1 ms latency§", and in its fuller wording: "5G greatly boosts the download speed up to 5.0 Gbps (based on R15 Sub-6GHz) - 16.7x faster than 4G LTE-Advanced and 33x faster than 4G LTE. It brings fast responsive network connections to tomorrow's mobile devices, with only 1 ms latency.**" Setup is as TP-Link describes it: "INSERT a Nano SIM card, and plug in the Deco unit."
Published Bands and Antennas
5G NR bands N1, N3, N5, N7, N8, N20, N28, N38, N40, N41, N77, N78 and N79; 4G FDD-LTE bands B1, B3, B5, B7, B8, B18, B19, B20, B26 and B28; and 4G TDD-LTE bands B34, B38, B39, B40, B41, B42 and B43. TP-Link publishes "8x LTE/5G internal antennas + 8x Wi-Fi internal antennas + 2x external antenna interface", adding that "Multiple antennas form a signal-boosting array to cover more directions and large areas". Send us your operator and plan and we will check the published band list against it before you order.
A Phone Port for VoLTE
The gateway carries an RJ11 phone port and ships with a telephony cable, so a conventional handset can make and receive calls over the mobile network. VoLTE service depends on your mobile operator and plan - check with them before ordering if voice is the reason you are buying this unit. Two 5G external antenna ports are also published, for sites where the internal array needs help; tell us if you need patch leads or an external antenna and we will quote them alongside the unit.
Dual-Band Wi-Fi 6 That Meshes
Wi-Fi runs IEEE 802.11ax/ac/n/a on 5 GHz at 4804 Mbps and 802.11ax/n/b/g on 2.4 GHz at 1148 Mbps, across 12 streams with MU-MIMO and OFDMA. TP-Link rates one pack for 1-3 bedroom houses, at a 1 Pack Coverage of up to 2,900 ft2/270 m2, and up to 200 devices. Its WiFi Range row also states that "Optional Ethernet backhaul work together to link Deco units to provide seamless coverage", so a second Deco node can be added later to extend the same network. If you already run Deco units, tell us which models and we will confirm the mix.
Working Modes
TP-Link's specification table prints the Working Modes row as "5G/4G Router, Router, Access Point". Its feature copy prints "Plug a SIM card to work as a 5G/4G/3G router". 3G fallback depends on your operator's network - ask us and we will confirm it before you order.
Security and Parental Controls
Network Security is published as SPI Firewall, Access Control and HomeShield Security, the latter covering Real-Time IoT Protection, Malicious Site Blocker, Intrusion Prevention System, DDoS Attack Prevention and Home Network Scanner. WiFi Encryption is published separately as WPA-Personal, WPA2-Personal, WPA3-Personal. TP-Link also publishes "Robust Parental Controls" within HomeShield, with User Profiles by Age, Content Filter, Bedtime and Time Rewards, and the fuller list User Profiles, Filter Levels, Time Limits, Insights and Suspend Connectivity. HomeShield includes the Free Basic Plan; fees apply for the Pro Plan.*
Ideal For
Singapore premises without fixed broadband, temporary sites, shophouses and events, and as a mobile-broadband backup where a fixed line already exists. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty and GST invoice.

TP-Link Footnotes
† Maximum wireless signal rates are the physical rates derived from IEEE Standard 802.11 specifications. Actual wireless data throughput and wireless coverage, and quantity of connected devices are not guaranteed and will vary as a result of network conditions, client limitations, and environmental factors, including building materials, obstacles, volume and density of traffic, and client location.
‡ Clients need to support 802.11k/v/r and may require additional set up. Performance may vary depending on the client's device.
△ Uses of WiFi 6 and other features including OFDMA, MU-MIMO, 1024-QAM, and BSS Color require clients to also support the corresponding features.
* HomeShield includes the Free Basic Plan. Fees apply for the Pro Plan. Visit tp-link.com/homeshield for more information.
** All WAN/LAN ports will operate as either WAN or LAN ports. Only one port can serve as a WAN port at a time.
§ Actual 5G downlink speeds vary between households. Factors affecting 5G speeds include the internet service level, real-time network capacity, equipment and client limitations, and environmental factors.

Frequently Asked Questions - Deco X80-5G
Do I need a fixed broadband line?
No. The X80-5G uses a 5G or 4G mobile data service as its internet connection. It can also run as an ordinary wired router or as an access point if you later get a fixed line.
Which SIM size does it take?
A Nano SIM. TP-Link's setup instruction reads: "INSERT a Nano SIM card, and plug in the Deco unit."
Will it work on my mobile operator?
Send us your operator and plan. We will check them against TP-Link's published 5G NR and LTE band lists rather than guess.
How fast is the 5G connection?
TP-Link publishes download speeds up to 5.0 Gbps and 1 ms latency on Sub-6 GHz 5G. Actual 5G downlink speeds vary between households, with the internet service level, real-time network capacity, equipment and client limitations and environmental factors all affecting them.
Can I use a normal telephone with it?
Yes, through the RJ11 phone port, and a telephony cable is included. Calling runs over VoLTE, so your operator must support and enable it.
Can both Ethernet ports be WAN ports?
No. All WAN/LAN ports will operate as either WAN or LAN ports. Only one port can serve as a WAN port at a time.
What warranty does SourceIT provide?
Three years local Singapore warranty, per TP-Link's published replacement warranty policy, with a GST invoice on every unit.
