What the AC output will run

At 500 W continuous the OffGrid 500 covers a laptop and a monitor together, a small desk of network equipment, a projector and speakers, camera and studio lighting, and most consumer electronics. It does not cover kettles, hair dryers, heaters, microwaves or fridges. Check the rating plate on anything with a motor or a heating element, and bear in mind that start-up draw exceeds running draw.

Estimating runtime

Divide the 517 Wh capacity by the load in watts and allow for conversion losses. A 65 W laptop charger gives you the better part of a working day; a 150 W desk setup rather less than three hours. Anything drawn from the USB, car or DC barrel outputs bypasses the inverter and is more efficient than the same power taken from the AC sockets — useful if you are trying to stretch a charge.

Solar charging

The DC input accepts 12 to 30 V at up to 10 A, capped at 200 W, and Schneider names the PSP100 and the larger PSP200 as the panels for it. The 200 W ceiling means this unit can take either, unlike the OffGrid 330, whose input is capped at 100 W.

Charging while in use

Pass-through is supported, so connected equipment keeps running while the station is on charge. Schneider publishes no switchover time, so do not treat this as an uninterruptible supply for equipment that cannot tolerate a break.

Where it sits in the range

The 500 is the middle unit. Against the OffGrid 330 it adds 185 Wh of capacity, 200 W of output, a second USB-C port, two DC barrel outputs and twice the solar input ceiling, for 2.2 kg more weight. Against the OffGrid 730 it gives up 221 Wh, 200 W of output and the 100 W USB-C port, and saves 0.9 kg. The two larger units share a case and differ only in the pack and the electronics.

Accessories worth adding

A solar panel is the accessory that changes what this product is for: with the PSP100 the station stops being a large battery and becomes a supply that can sustain a small load indefinitely in daylight. Schneider also lists the 200 W PSP200 for this model, which Schneider does not list for the 330 — on a 100 W input it would buy you nothing.

Schneider specifies lithium-ion cells here, not lithium iron phosphate, and rates the pack at 500 or more cycles to 80 percent of its original capacity. That is worth knowing if you are comparing against a LiFePO4 unit, which will typically quote a much higher cycle count for the same money and weigh more for the same energy.

Does the -UK build need an adapter in Singapore?

No. BS 1363 is Singapore’s own three-pin standard, so Singapore plugs fit these sockets directly. The AC input accepts 190 to 265 V at 50 or 60 Hz, so charging from local mains is equally direct. The -UK designation describes the socket standard, and that standard is ours.

How long will it run my equipment?

See the runtime note in Compatibility above for the method. As a quick answer, a 12 W router runs about a day and a half; loads taken from the USB, car and DC barrel outputs skip the inverter and last longer than the same wattage drawn from the AC sockets.

Will it run a kettle or a fridge?

No. Both are well beyond 500 W, and a fridge compressor draws several times its running figure at start-up. This is a product for electronics, not for anything that heats or compresses.

What is the peak or surge rating?

Schneider does not publish one, so we do not quote one. A figure of that kind does appear in third-party catalogues, but the record it comes from also describes this -UK model as having Schuko sockets, which it does not — so we treat the whole entry as unreliable. Size your load against the 500 W continuous rating.

Can I use it as a UPS?

Not as a rated one. Pass-through works, so connected equipment keeps running while the station charges, but Schneider publishes no switchover time and does not rate the product for that duty. Equipment that cannot lose power needs a UPS with a specified transfer time.

How does it compare with the OffGrid 730?

Same case, same footprint, same weight class. The OffGrid 730 carries 738 Wh against 517 Wh, 700 W against 500 W, and a 100 W USB-C Power Delivery port against this model’s 60 W — which matters if you charge a large laptop over a single cable. It is 0.9 kg heavier. If your load list has headroom at 500 W, this is the better buy; if it is close to the limit, take the 730.

Does it come with a local Singapore warranty?

Yes. Every Schneider OffGrid Portable Power Station 500 sold by SourceIT comes with local Singapore warranty and a GST invoice; Schneider backs the OffGrid Portable Power Station 500 with a 2-year manufacturer warranty. Schneider’s own documentation states two years from the date of purchase with no regional split, so the same term applies here.
