10GBASE-T Aggregation over Copper
The RUCKUS ICX 7850-48C is a stackable RUCKUS ICX 7850 switch with 48 x 1/10 GbE RJ-45 10GBASE-T downlinks and 8 x 40/100 GbE QSFP28 ports for uplinks or stacking; the QSFP28 ports can also break out to 4 x 10 GbE or 4 x 25 GbE.
This is the bare switch: RUCKUS ships it with power supplies and fans sold separately — order 2 x RPS19 power supplies and the ICX-FAN12 fans (or choose the -E2 bundle). Transceivers and cables are sold separately.
2.56 Tbps Switching and Stacking up to 12 Units
RUCKUS rates the ICX 7850-48C at 2.56 Tbps switching capacity and 3.8 Bpps forwarding, with 0.8 µs average latency and a 32 MB packet buffer. Up to 12 switches can be stacked, with 9.6 Tbps aggregated stacking bandwidth and up to 10 km between stacked switches, and the stack is managed as a single switch.
Layer 3 Routing, Upgradable by Licence
Base software includes IPv4/IPv6 static routes, RIP v1/v2 and ECMP. The ICX7850-PREM-LIC advanced Layer 3 licence adds OSPF v2/v3, BGP4/BGP4+, VRRP v3, PIM, PBR, VRF-lite, MSDP and BGP EVPN VXLAN.
Cloud or On-Premises Management
The RUCKUS data sheet lists RUCKUS One (cloud) and RUCKUS SmartZone (on premises) management for the ICX 7850, alongside the CLI.
Supplied in Singapore with Local Warranty
RUCKUS covers ICX 7850 switches with the RUCKUS Assurance Limited Lifetime Warranty and 90 days of free technical support (a RUCKUS support contract is needed after that). Are power supplies and fans included?
No. The bare switch ships without power supplies and fans; order 2 x RPS19 power supplies and 5 x ICX-FAN12 fans, or choose the -E2 bundle.
Does it support PoE?
No. The ICX 7850 is an aggregation/core switch without PoE; power access points from an access switch such as the ICX 8200 or ICX 7550.
How many switches can I stack?
Up to 12 ICX 7850 switches per stack, with 9.6 Tbps aggregated stacking bandwidth and up to 10 km between stacked switches.
Does it do Layer 3 routing?
Static routes, RIP and ECMP are included. OSPF, BGP, VRRP v3, PIM, PBR, VRF-lite and BGP EVPN VXLAN need the ICX7850-PREM-LIC licence.
