Poly Rove B4 Multi Cell DECT Base Station
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Poly Rove B4 Multi-Cell DECT Base Station (8J8W4AA) - Local Warranty
Poly Rove B4 Multi-Cell DECT Base Station for Enterprise-Scale Coverage
The Poly Rove B4 is the multi-cell base station in Poly’s Rove wireless DECT IP phone system, built for sites too large for a single or dual cell. Each B4 supports up to 30 handsets and up to 8 concurrent calls and is recommended for 15,000+ sq ft of coverage; linked together, a B4 system scales to as many as 254 base stations, 1,000 handsets and 2,000 concurrent calls, with handsets roaming between cells without dropping the call.
Seamless Roaming Across a Whole Campus
This is the reason to buy a B4 rather than a B2. Multi-cell operation links bases into one continuous coverage blanket, so a porter walking a hospital wing, a picker moving between racking aisles or a manager crossing a multi-storey warehouse stays on the same call throughout. Coverage is extended one cell at a time as the site grows, without re-architecting the system.
Up to 254 Bases, 1,000 Handsets and 2,000 Concurrent Calls
System capacity is measured in thousands rather than dozens. Up to 1,000 handsets and 1,000 SIP registrations are supported system-wide, with up to 2,000 concurrent calls across the deployment — more than enough headroom for the largest Singapore logistics parks, hospitals, hotels and manufacturing campuses.
PoE-Powered on Standard Ethernet
The B4 connects on a 10/100 Base Ethernet port and is designed to run on Power over Ethernet — HP ships it with an Ethernet cable rather than a power adapter. For a multi-cell rollout that is the practical arrangement: each cell needs one structured cable run and nothing else, which keeps ceiling and high-level mounting straightforward.
Secure DECT and Central Provisioning
This is the 1880–1900 MHz build, the correct DECT band for Singapore, with DECT end-to-end encryption maintained across bases and repeaters. Provisioning is over HTTPS or encrypted XML via TFTP or HTTP, and PDMS-SP cloud management lets a multi-site estate be configured and updated remotely.
Ideal For
Hospitals and healthcare campuses, large warehouses and 3PL distribution centres, manufacturing plants, hotels and resorts, schools and any Singapore site needing more than 20 handsets or roaming across multiple buildings and floors.

Compatibility & Software Support
Poly Rove System Compatibility
The Poly Rove range is a single interoperable DECT system. All Poly Rove handsets — Rove 20, Rove 30 and Rove 40 — register to any Poly Rove base station, and the Rove R8 repeater is compatible with all Poly Rove products. This means you can mix entry-level and ruggedised handsets on one base and add coverage later without replacing what you already own.
Call Platform and Standards Support
Poly Rove is an Open SIP solution and supports SIP-based calling on standards-compliant IP PBX and hosted voice platforms. HP lists the Poly Rove range as Zoom certified. SourceIT can confirm interoperability against your specific Singapore SIP trunk or hosted PBX provider before you order.
| Telephony architecture | Open SIP wireless DECT IP phone system |

A note on the DECT frequency band
Poly builds the Rove range in two radio variants: a 1920–1930 MHz North American SKU and an 1880–1900 MHz EU / ANZ / UK SKU. The Rove B4 base station stocked by SourceIT is the 1880–1900 MHz build, which is the correct DECT band for Singapore. North American 1920–1930 MHz units bought from overseas will not operate legally or reliably here — always check the band before you buy grey stock.

Frequently Asked Questions — Poly Rove B4
How large a system can the B4 scale to?
HP rates a B4 multi-cell system at up to 254 base stations, up to 1,000 handsets and up to 2,000 concurrent calls, with up to 1,000 SIP registrations system-wide. Each individual base carries up to 30 handsets and up to 8 concurrent calls, and is recommended for 15,000+ sq ft of coverage.
When should I choose the B4 over the B2?
Choose the B4 when handsets need to roam seamlessly across an area larger than two cells can cover, or when handset counts exceed 20. The B2 tops out at 20 handsets across one or two cells; the B4 chains cells across a whole campus, multi-storey warehouse or hospital wing with handover between them. For a small single-floor site, the B2 is the more economical choice.
Does the B4 come with a power supply?
No. HP lists the B4 box contents as the base station, desk stand, Ethernet cable, quick start guide and safety sheet — there is no AC adapter included, because the B4 is designed to run on Power over Ethernet. Budget for PoE switch ports, or order a 5 V 2 A DC supply separately if local power is required.
How many concurrent calls does each base handle?
Eight per base station. That is lower per-base than the B2’s 10 or 20, because a multi-cell system spreads load across many bases rather than concentrating it — total system capacity reaches 2,000 concurrent calls.
Which handsets and repeaters work with the B4?
All Poly Rove handsets: the Rove 20, the ruggedised Rove 30 and the premium Rove 40. HP lists the B4 as supporting up to 3 Poly Rove R8 repeaters to fill coverage gaps that would not justify an additional cell.
Do I need a server or licence to run a multi-cell Rove system?
No dedicated server or per-handset licence is required. The bases connect to your LAN and register to a standards-compliant Open SIP platform. For multi-site rollouts, PDMS-SP cloud management provides remote provisioning and configuration.
Is this the correct DECT band for Singapore?
Yes. This is the 1880–1900 MHz build, correct for Singapore and APAC. The North American B4 runs at 1920–1930 MHz and is a different SKU.
Does the Poly Rove B4 come with a warranty in Singapore?
Yes. Every Poly Rove B4 Base Station sold by SourceIT comes with local Singapore warranty and a GST invoice.
