Microsoft Office 365 Extra File Storage Annual Subscription (12 Months)
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Microsoft Office 365 Extra File Storage Annual Subscription (12 Months) (CFQ7TTC0LHS9:0001) - Local Support
What this add-on actually expands
The SharePoint tenant storage quota. Microsoft's wording is direct: Office 365 Extra File Storage increases the tenant storage quota, and Microsoft discusses it exclusively in a SharePoint context. It is bought in 1 GB increments and the amount is added to whatever your subscriptions already provide. Microsoft: if you have a Microsoft 365 subscription and an Office 365 Extra File Storage add-on, the storage amounts are added.
What it does NOT expand
It is not a OneDrive top-up. This add-on expands the SharePoint Online storage pool; it does NOT increase OneDrive for Business storage. Microsoft's SharePoint limits page carries a footnote stating that the tenant pool does not include the OneDrive created for each licensed user, and Microsoft sells a separate product, OneDrive Extra Storage, for per-user OneDrive capacity. Per-user OneDrive storage sits outside the SharePoint tenant pool and is bought separately. Exchange mailbox storage is a different system again and is unaffected by this add-on.
How much storage you already have before you buy any
Work this out first, because customers routinely buy capacity they already own. Microsoft publishes the base tenant formula as 1 TB plus 10 GB per licence purchased, applying to the Microsoft 365 Business plans, the Microsoft 365 and Office 365 enterprise plans, and SharePoint Plan 1 and Plan 2. The frontline plans are the exception: Microsoft 365 F1 and F3 and Office 365 F3 get a flat 1 TB with no per-user increment. A hundred-seat Business Standard tenant therefore starts with 1 TB plus 1 TB, before a single gigabyte of this add-on. Check the SharePoint admin centre before ordering, and ask us if you want a hand reading it.
One channel caveat we are not going to hide
Microsoft's own documentation for this add-on states that it is not available for purchase through Volume Licensing or CSP directly from Microsoft. The part number on this listing is a CSP-style catalogue identifier. We are flagging that plainly rather than leaving you to discover it at provisioning time: confirm the purchase route with us in writing before you order, and we will tell you what can actually be supplied and how.
Office 365 Extra File Storage — What It Adds
The add-on
| What it increases | The SharePoint tenant storage quota. Microsoft: Office 365 Extra File Storage increases the tenant storage quota. |
| Purchase increment | Microsoft: use the Office 365 Extra File Storage add-on to add more storage in 1-GB increments. |
| How it combines | Microsoft: if you have a Microsoft 365 subscription and an Office 365 Extra File Storage add-on, the storage amounts are added. |
| Administrator role required | SharePoint Administrator or Global Administrator in the Microsoft 365 admin centre |
| Metric | Per gigabyte of tenant storage, NOT per user. This is the one product in this range that is not licensed per seat. |
| Term | 12 months |
| What happens at expiry | Microsoft's published path for business subscriptions runs Active, then Expired for roughly 30 days with normal access, then Disabled for roughly 90 days where data is read-only and administrator-only, and then deletion. Storage bought as an add-on lapses with the subscription it augments, so renew before the term ends if the tenant is relying on the extra capacity. |
| Support route | Microsoft routes support for partner-purchased subscriptions through the partner — on this order, that is us. |
| SKU on this listing | CFQ7TTC0LHS9:0001 |
| Prerequisites beyond the admin role | Microsoft's page cross-references a prerequisites section that appears to belong to a different, similarly named storage product. Those Azure prerequisites are not republished here, because no official Microsoft source confirms they apply to this SKU. |
What it does not touch
| Per-user OneDrive storage | Outside the SharePoint tenant pool. Microsoft's SharePoint limits page states the tenant pool does not include the OneDrive created for each licensed user. Microsoft sells OneDrive Extra Storage separately for this. |
| Exchange mailbox storage | A separate system. Not affected by this add-on. For mailbox capacity, look at the Exchange Online plans. |
Work Out What You Already Have First
Microsoft's base tenant storage formula
| Most subscriptions | 1 TB plus 10 GB per licence purchased |
| Which subscriptions | Microsoft 365 Business Basic, Business Standard and Business Premium; Microsoft 365 Enterprise E3, E5, A3, A5, G3 and G5; Office 365 E1, E3, E5, A1, A3, A5, G1, G3 and G5; SharePoint Plan 1 and SharePoint Plan 2 |
| Frontline exception | Microsoft 365 F1, Microsoft 365 F3 and Office 365 F3 get a flat 1 TB with no per-user increment |
| Worked example | A 100-seat Microsoft 365 Business Standard tenant starts with 1 TB plus 1,000 GB, before buying any of this add-on |
Other SharePoint limits worth knowing
| Maximum storage per site collection | 25 TB |
| Sites per organisation | 2 million |
| Single file upload limit | 250 GB |
Read your current position in the SharePoint admin centre before ordering capacity. If the number is not obvious, send us a screenshot and we will read it with you — we would rather sell you the right quantity once than the wrong quantity twice.

Frequently Asked Questions — Office 365 Extra File Storage
Does this increase OneDrive storage?
No. It increases the SharePoint tenant storage quota. Microsoft's SharePoint limits page states that the tenant pool does not include the OneDrive created for each licensed user, and Microsoft sells a separate product, OneDrive Extra Storage, for per-user OneDrive capacity.
Does it increase mailbox storage?
No. Exchange mailbox storage is a separate system. For mailbox capacity, look at the Exchange Online plans — Plan 2 carries a 100 GB mailbox and an auto-expanding archive.
How much do I need?
Usually less than people assume, because the base allowance is generous. Microsoft gives most subscriptions 1 TB plus 10 GB per licence purchased. Check the SharePoint admin centre for your current usage and quota first, and ask us if you want help reading it.
What is the smallest quantity I can buy?
Microsoft sells it in 1 GB increments.
Can I actually buy this through CSP?
Confirm with us before ordering. Microsoft's own documentation for this add-on states it is not available for purchase through Volume Licensing or CSP directly from Microsoft, while the part number on this listing is a CSP-style identifier. We are flagging the tension rather than hiding it.
Where do the facts on this page come from?
Every figure on this page is quoted from the Microsoft pages linked in the Official Microsoft Documentation section above. Where Microsoft publishes nothing for Office 365 Extra File Storage specifically — the prerequisites beyond the administrator role, for example — this page says so rather than filling the gap. SourceIT confirms licensing details in writing with a quotation.
