The Lenovo NanoSaver Essential Cable Lock secures a laptop through its Nano security slot using a stainless steel cleat mechanism in a zinc alloy body, on a 1.5 metre galvanised steel cable 4.5 mm thick. Two keys are supplied.
Keyed or Combination: Choose Deliberately
This is the keyed model. Its sibling, the NanoSaver Combination Cable Lock in the ordering table, is keyless with a 4-dial code. Keys are simpler and cannot be forgotten; they can be lost, and a floor of fifty keyed locks becomes a key-management problem. Combination locks solve that and introduce a different one. Neither is better — but decide before you buy fifty of them, not after.
A One-Piece Design With a Velcro Tie
Lenovo builds this as a one-piece lock with a Velcro strap for managing the cable in transit or storage. At 180 grams it is light enough to live in a laptop bag rather than a drawer, which is the difference between a lock that gets used and one that does not.
Check the Slot on Your Laptop First
This lock fits the Nano security slot only. It will not fit a standard Kensington Security Slot or a Kensington MicroSaver 2.0 slot. Look at the actual machine before ordering — see the compatibility section below, which is the first thing to read on this page.

Compatibility & Fit
Before you order: check your laptop has a Nano security slot
This is the single thing most likely to cause a return on a cable lock, so it is at the top of the page rather than buried. Both Lenovo NanoSaver locks use a cleat head sized for the Nano security slot — the small rectangular slot found on recent ThinkPads and many current business laptops. They will not fit a standard Kensington Security Slot, the larger T-bar slot on older machines, and they will not fit a Kensington MicroSaver 2.0 slot either. Look at the actual machine before you order, or send us the model and we will check it for you. Lenovo also makes a twin-head lock (part 4XE1B81919) that fits both a Nano and a MicroSaver 2.0 slot — ask us and we will quote it if your fleet is mixed.
Keyed versus combination, for a real deployment. Keyed locks are simple: hand out the lock and the keys, and the user cannot forget the code. The failure mode is lost keys, and at fifty desks you will need a key register and a plan for what happens when someone leaves. Combination locks remove the keys and introduce forgotten codes and the need to record the combinations somewhere secure. For a handful of laptops, keyed is usually the easier answer. For a floor, talk to us and we will help you think it through — it is a process decision more than a product one.
What a cable lock actually does. It stops opportunistic theft — a laptop lifted from an unattended desk, a hot desk, a co-working space, a trade stand or a hotel room. It does not stop a determined thief with tools, and no cable lock at this level claims to. The value is that it turns a five-second theft into a noisy several-minute one, which is enough to prevent most of them.
Where to anchor it. The cable needs something immovable — a desk leg that is bolted down, a fixed rail, a purpose-made anchor point. Looping it round a light table or a drawer unit that lifts away achieves nothing. If your furniture has no suitable anchor, tell us and we can quote anchor plates alongside.
Three years of warranty. Lenovo publishes a 3-year term on both NanoSaver locks — longer than most Lenovo accessories, and reasonable for a product with no electronics in it.

Keyed, with two keys supplied. The NanoSaver Combination Cable Lock (4XE1F30277) in the ordering table is the keyless 4-dial version, with a longer and thicker cable.
What happens if I lose the keys?
You will need a replacement lock — Lenovo publishes no key-replacement service that we could find. For a fleet, that is the argument for the combination model, whose code is resettable. For a handful of laptops, keep the spare key somewhere sensible.
How strong is it?
It is a 4.5 mm galvanised steel cable with a zinc alloy body and a stainless steel cleat. Like every cable lock at this level, it defeats opportunistic theft rather than a determined attack with tools. That is what it is for, and it is worth having — most laptop theft is opportunistic.
What warranty applies in Singapore?
Lenovo publishes 3 years for this lock. Every unit SourceIT sells also carries local Singapore warranty support and a GST invoice.
