Jabra Evolve 80 Specifications — Corded Over-Ear ANC Headset for Deep Focus
The Jabra Evolve 80 (7899-823-109) is a professional corded over-ear headset built to create a quiet zone in a noisy open-plan office. It combines 40 mm dynamic PureSound speakers with true Active Noise Cancellation and full circumaural ear cushions that physically seal out the room. It connects over USB-A through the detachable Jabra Evolve Link call-control unit, or over a 3.5 mm jack to a phone or tablet — this is a wired headset, so there is no Bluetooth pairing and no wireless dropout to manage.
Active Noise Cancellation Plus Circumaural Passive Isolation
ANC is switched on and off with a slide switch on the earcup and is powered by an in-built rechargeable battery, which drives up to 24 hours of ANC when the headset is not connected to the controller. The soft audio-foam ear cushions covered in black leatherette add passive isolation on top, blocking higher-frequency office noise. A Listen-in button lets you hear the room without removing the headset. Because the audio link is wired, the headset keeps working for calls and music even if the ANC battery is flat.
Noise-Cancelling ECM Boom Microphone with Magnetic Hide-Away
Calls run through a noise-cancelling uni-directional electret condenser (ECM) microphone on a discrete boom arm that docks magnetically into the headband when you are not on a call — and mutes automatically when it does. Microphone bandwidth covers 150 Hz to 7,000 Hz in wideband speak mode, with the speaker delivering a full 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz in Hi-Fi music mode.
Busylight on Both Earcups and Inline Evolve Link Call Control
Integrated red busylights on both earcups light automatically during a call, or can be switched on manually to signal that you are busy. The inline Jabra Evolve Link controller handles answer/end, mute, volume and busylight from a 55 x 55 mm unit on a 95 cm control cable, with a 120 cm cable running to the headset. USB power comes from the PC, so there is no separate power supply to find desk space for.
Certified Platforms: Microsoft Teams-certified variant (MS Evolve Link controller)
This part number is the Microsoft Teams-certified build, shipping with the MS Evolve Link controller. The headset itself is identical across variants — the certification lives in the controller, so ordering the right part number matters. Jabra lists platform support for Microsoft Teams, Avaya, Cisco and more, with regulatory approvals covering CE, FCC, KCC, RCM and UL.

Compatibility & Software Support
The Jabra Evolve 80 is a corded headset. It connects to Windows and macOS over USB-A through the Jabra Evolve Link controller, and to phones, tablets or any analogue source through the 3.5 mm jack. There is no Bluetooth on this model — if you need a wireless Evolve headset, see the Evolve2 range below.
Certified platforms: Jabra lists Microsoft Teams, Avaya, Cisco and more. The certification is carried by the Evolve Link controller rather than the headset, so the MS and UC part numbers differ only in which controller ships in the box. This listing is the Microsoft Teams-certified variant (MS Evolve Link controller).
Controller spares: Evolve Link MS 14208-05 (USB-A) / 14208-20 (USB-C); Evolve Link UC 14208-06 (USB-A) / 14208-21 (USB-C).
Software: Jabra Direct for firmware updates and device settings, and Jabra Xpress for IT-managed deployment. The latest published firmware for the Evolve 80 is v4.1.0.

Frequently Asked Questions — Jabra Evolve 80
Is the Jabra Evolve 80 wireless or Bluetooth?
Neither — the Evolve 80 is a corded headset. It connects over USB-A through the detachable Jabra Evolve Link controller, or over a 3.5 mm jack. It has no Bluetooth and does not pair with a phone wirelessly. The in-built battery powers only the Active Noise Cancellation and Listen-in functions, not the audio connection.
What is the difference between the Evolve 80 UC and MS variants?
The headset is identical; only the inline controller differs. The MS part number (7899-823-109) ships the Microsoft Teams-certified Evolve Link MS controller. The UC part number (7899-829-209) ships the UC controller, optimised for Avaya, Cisco and other UC softphones. Because the certification sits in the controller, choose the part number that matches your platform.
Is the Evolve 80 mono or stereo, and is it on-ear or over-ear?
It is a stereo, over-ear (circumaural) headset — the ear cushions surround the ear rather than resting on it, which is what gives it stronger passive isolation than on-ear models such as the Evolve 40. There is no mono version of the Evolve 80.
How does the Evolve 80 compare with the Evolve2 75 and Evolve2 85?
The Evolve 80 is the older corded option: excellent passive isolation and ANC, but tethered to the desk. The Evolve2 75 is the modern wireless replacement with eight microphones, Jabra Advanced ANC and up to 36 hours of battery. The Evolve2 85 is the wireless over-ear flagship with ten microphones. Most Singapore customers replacing an Evolve 80 today move to the Evolve2 75 or Evolve2 85.
Does the Evolve 80 need charging, and what happens if the battery goes flat?
The in-built rechargeable battery powers ANC and Listen-in for up to 24 hours when the headset is not connected to the controller, and recharges automatically during normal use while connected. Jabra's technical specifications quote a maximum 120-minute charge time (the user manual quotes approximately 3 hours). If the battery is flat the headset still works normally for calls and music — only ANC and Listen-in are unavailable. Note that it will not charge when plugged directly into a mobile device.
Can I use the Evolve 80 with a mobile phone or on a flight?
Yes. The 120 cm headset cable terminates in a 3.5 mm jack for phones, tablets and in-flight entertainment systems, and ANC works independently of the USB connection. The airline flight adapter is an optional accessory sold separately.
Does SourceIT provide local warranty for the Evolve 80?
Yes. Every Evolve 80 sold by SourceIT comes with 2 years local Singapore warranty and a GST invoice.
