Specifications above are taken from the official Ergotron Zip40 datasheet, which covers the charging and the charging-and-management carts jointly. Ergotron does not publish a per-outlet or per-bay output rating, a PowerShuttle staging schedule, a total AC outlet count, an internal shelf or bay count, slot depth, or operating temperature and humidity limits for these carts, so none are stated here.

The Zip40 takes up to 40 tablets and Chromebooks, or 30 full-size laptops, with screens up to 15.6 inches and a maximum device envelope of 43.4 x 28.4 cm including case and power cord plug. That is the largest device size in the Ergotron Zip range and covers essentially any standard school or office laptop.

Capacity depends on slot width. Set the 40 adjustable dividers to 28 mm and the cart holds 40 devices; open them to 48 mm for thicker laptops and it holds 30. Nine small-device divider stoppers are supplied for tablets that would otherwise sit loose in a bay.

Electrical: this -3 SKU runs at 220–240 V, 12–10 A, 50/60 Hz — matching Singapore mains — on a 3 m country-specific cord stored in a recessed wrap, feeding four 10-outlet power strips. Ergotron's patented PowerShuttle technology manages charging, and built-in fans keep batteries cool to extend their life.

Mobility and siting: the cart measures 66.4 x 112.5 x 82.2 cm and weighs 79 kg (175 lbs) empty, rolling on four 12.7 cm dual-wheel locking casters. Ergotron notes that dual-wheel casters take less effort to move than single-wheel designs, which is worth having at this weight. Check lift access and doorway widths before deploying across floors. Security is via 3-point locking steel doors with a key lock, two keys supplied, a removable door for loading, and an optional bracket to lock the cart in place.

Upgrading to device management later: this is the charge-only Zip40. Ergotron sells the Zip40 Management Upgrade Kit (part 97-939) separately, and states that with that kit plus an Ethernet switch (not included) it becomes easy to update devices using Wake-On-LAN. Both Zip40 models already provide two mounting brackets for a switch and two internal auxiliary outlets for switch and access-point installation, so the upgrade path is built in. Alternatively the Zip40 Charging and Management Cart (DM40-2008-3) ships with the Ethernet cabling from new.

Zip40 — part numbers

Ergotron lists both Zip40 models in six regional configurations: -1 US/CA/MX, -2 EU, -3 UK/IE/SG/MY/HK, -4 AU/NZ, -5 CN and -6 JP. The -3 SKU is the correct part number for Singapore.

Ergotron publishes a single datasheet covering both the Zip40 Charging Cart (DM40-2009) and the Zip40 Charging and Management Cart (DM40-2008).

Ergotron warrants its Zip charging systems by component rather than under a single headline term: limited lifetime on the frame, 5 years on mechanical components, 3 years on electrical components and 1 year on cables. We state it that way deliberately — the parts that actually wear on a charging product are the fans, outlets and controller, and those carry the 3-year electrical term rather than the frame's lifetime cover. Ergotron also sells a paid extended warranty for AC-power charging carts (part SRVC-DM5YR-PSCART), which is an add-on rather than the standard term. How many devices does it hold?
Up to 40 tablets and Chromebooks, or 30 full-size laptops. With the 40 adjustable dividers set to 28 mm slots you get 40 bays; opened to 48 mm for thicker laptops you get 30. Nine small-device divider stoppers are supplied for tablets.

What is the largest device that fits?
A screen up to 15.6 inches, within an envelope of 43.4 x 28.4 cm including the case and the power cord plug. That covers essentially any standard school or office laptop.

Can I add device management to this cart later?
Yes. Ergotron sells the Zip40 Management Upgrade Kit, part 97-939, and both Zip40 models already include two mounting brackets for an Ethernet switch and two internal auxiliary outlets. Alternatively the Zip40 Charging and Management Cart (DM40-2008-3) ships with 40 CAT6 cables, three cable storage trays, a 5.9 m CAT6 cable and Velcro strips from new.

Is an Ethernet switch included?
No — not on either Zip40 model. Both provide two mounting brackets for a switch and two internal auxiliary outlets for switch and wireless access point installation, but the switch is customer-supplied. Ergotron's Wake-On-LAN claim is stated against the management upgrade kit and assumes a switch is fitted.

Does it suit Singapore mains?
Yes. This -3 SKU is rated 220–240 V, 12–10 A, 50/60 Hz, and Ergotron scopes the suffix to the UK, Ireland, Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong. It ships with a 3 m country-specific cord stored in a recessed wrap.

How heavy is it, and how does it move?
The cart weighs 79 kg (175 lbs) empty and rolls on four 12.7 cm dual-wheel locking casters, which Ergotron notes take less effort to move than single-wheel designs. Check lift access and doorway widths before planning to move it between floors.

How is it secured?
3-point locking steel doors with a key lock, two keys supplied, plus a removable door that makes loading easier. Ergotron also offers an optional bracket to lock the cart in place.

What does PowerShuttle do, and is the charging staged?
Ergotron describes PowerShuttle as supporting safe and fast charging, and publishes a comparative claim of charging up to 40% faster than a competitor's round-robin charging cart — a marketing claim given without test conditions. Ergotron does not state on the Zip40 datasheet whether charging is staged or simultaneous, or how many devices charge at once, so we do not quote figures for those.

Is there a local Singapore warranty?
Yes. Every Ergotron Zip system sold by SourceIT comes with local Singapore warranty and a GST invoice. Ergotron backs the Zip range with a tiered manufacturer warranty rather than a single term: limited lifetime on the frame, 5 years on mechanical components (casters, hinges, doors, handle, lock, dividers, shelves), 3 years on electrical components (timer module, controller, outlets, switches, fans) and 1 year on cables. If you have seen a flat "lifetime" or "5 year" figure quoted for these products elsewhere, this tiered breakdown is the accurate position from Ergotron's own warranty policy.
