Add 9 Inches of Extra Reach to Any LX Monitor Arm
The Ergotron LX Extension (45-289-026) bolts a second extension segment onto an existing LX Desk Monitor Arm, LX Wall Monitor Arm or LX Keyboard Arm, increasing its horizontal reach by a further 9″ (23 cm). For deep Singapore workstations, reception counters and hot-desking pods where the standard LX arm cannot quite bring the screen to the user, this is the smallest and most economical fix available.
An Extra Pivot Point for Finer Screen Positioning
Beyond raw reach, the extension introduces another pivot point into the arm geometry. That extra joint lets the screen be swung around obstacles — a monitor riser, a partition, a CPU tower or a second user — instead of forcing a straight-line approach. Shared desks and two-person benches gain a great deal of practical adjustability from a single added segment.
Polished Aluminium to Match the LX Family
The extension is finished in polished aluminium so it blends seamlessly with LX polished aluminium arms. White (45-289-216) and matte black (45-289-224) versions of the same accessory exist for colour-matched installations.
Plan the Load Before You Extend
Adding length changes the leverage on the arm, so Ergotron publishes a reduced capacity when the extension is fitted: 18 lbs (8.1 kg) on the LX Desk Mount Arm (45-241-026) and 36 lbs (16.4 kg) on the LX HD Wall Mount Swing Arm (45-268-026). Only one additional extension is permitted per LX configuration, and Ergotron does not recommend it on the LX Dual Desk Mount arms.

The LX Extension is an arm accessory, not a mount: it has no VESA interface of its own and always sits between an existing LX arm segment and the screen pivot. Fit is therefore determined entirely by the host arm.

Ultrawide and curved screens: reach is rarely the limiting factor on a 34″ or 38″ ultrawide — weight is. Because fitting the extension lowers the arm's rated capacity to 18 lbs (8.1 kg) on a standard LX desk arm, check the display's weight without its stand before ordering. If the screen is heavier than that, an HX Desk Monitor Arm rated to 42 lbs (19 kg) is the correct product instead.
Desk thickness: unchanged — the extension does not touch the desk. The host LX arm's own clamp and grommet limits continue to apply.

No. The extension is an inline arm segment with no VESA interface of its own — the host LX arm's existing VESA bracket continues to carry the screen.
What is the difference between the LX Extension and the LX Extension Arm Kit?
The LX Extension (45-289) adds reach to an arm you already own. The LX Extension Arm Kit (97-940-026 / 98-130-216) is a different product — it supplies a complete additional LX arm, extension, pole collar and cap so that one desk-mount pole can carry a second, third or fourth screen.
