This is the rare CareFit accessory with a hard published number: the extender adds an additional 18.5" (47.1 cm) of extension from the wall. On a wall-mounted workstation, reach is what decides whether the clinician can work beside the patient or has to stand at the wall.
Takes a Combo Arm to 57.8" and a Combo System to 65.3"
Ergotron publishes the resulting reach for each configuration: 57.8" (146 cm) on the Combo Arm and Combo Arm with Worksurface, and 65.3" (165.7 cm) on the Combo System and Combo System with Worksurface. Those are the figures to check against your room layout before you commit.
A Short Version Exists for Smaller Rooms
Ergotron also makes the CareFit Combo Extender, Short (98-648-251) for smaller care applications, giving 48.9" on the Arm and 56.4" (133 cm) on the System. If the bay is tight, the short extender may be the better specification — more reach is not always better in a corridor.

Compatibility & Fit
This accessory belongs to the CareFit Combo system — Ergotron's modular wall-mount arm platform, mounted on a 34" Wall Track (part 31-018-216, which Ergotron states is required for the CareFit Combo Arm). The host products are the CareFit Combo Arm (45-621-251), Combo Arm with Worksurface (45-622-251), Combo System (45-618-251) and Combo System with Worksurface (45-619-251).
Reach is the whole point of this accessory, so plan it against the room rather than the wall: a 65.3" reach on a Combo System puts the screen well into the bay, which is right for a bedside consultation and wrong for a narrow corridor where it becomes an obstruction. Ergotron's short extender (98-648-251) exists for exactly that case.
Adding reach also adds leverage on the wall track and the system's weight budget. Ergotron's instruction to confirm the total weight of every product and accessory against system capacity applies particularly here.
Do not cross-order across CareFit platforms. Ergotron runs three separate CareFit lines and their accessories do not interchange: Combo (this wall-mount arm system), Enclosure (the folding wall-mount workstation 61-367), and CareFit Pro (the mobile medical cart C52-xxxx). A scanner bracket or shelf from one will not fit another.
Ergotron prints a warning worth repeating when you configure a Combo system: confirm that the combined weight of every product and accessory does not exceed the system's capacity, and check attachment points, because not all accessories can be used together in a single configuration.
