Three-Phase Input, Single-Phase Output for Server Rooms and Critical Loads
The Eaton 9PX8KiRT31 is an 8000 VA / 7200 W online double-conversion UPS in Eaton's "3:1" configuration: it takes a 380/400/415 V three-phase supply and delivers a regulated single-phase output. For Singapore server rooms, labs, clinics and control rooms that have three-phase distribution but single-phase IT loads, this spreads the UPS draw across all three phases of the incoming supply instead of loading one.
Online double conversion means the load always runs from the inverter, so it is isolated from sags, surges, frequency drift and electrical noise on the mains. Eaton rates output voltage at ±1% with THDu below 2%.
Wide Input Window and High Efficiency
Eaton specifies an input range of 305–480 V without derating (down to 175 V with derating) at 40–70 Hz, with input THDi below 5%. Efficiency is up to 94% in online mode and up to 98% in Eaton's Hi-Efficiency mode, which keeps running costs and heat load in the room down.
Rack/Tower 6U with Hot-Swappable Batteries
The 9PX8KiRT31 is a 6U unit made of a 3U power module and a 3U battery module, supplied with a rack kit and able to stand as a tower. Batteries can be replaced without powering down the load, and Eaton allows up to 12 external hot-swappable battery modules (9PXEBM240RT) for extended runtime. Two units can be paralleled for twice the power.
Runtime You Can Plan Around
Eaton publishes these backup times for the 8 kVA 3:1 model: 50% load: 20 min; 70% load: 15 min; 50% / 70% load + 1 EBM: 48 min / 32 min; 50% / 70% load + 4 EBM: 140 min / 100 min. Runtime depends on the actual load, battery age and room temperature, so treat these as planning figures and size with headroom.

What It Is Suited To
The 9PX8KiRT31 suits sites with a three-phase supply feeding single-phase critical loads: server and network racks, storage, lab and medical equipment, and building control systems. Keep the total continuous load under 7.2 kW and leave headroom for growth; the watt figure, not the VA figure, is the limit.
Monitoring and Shutdown
USB and RS232 ports connect the UPS to a host for monitoring and shutdown, dry contacts signal alarms to building management, and the communication slot takes an optional Eaton network card for SNMP/web monitoring and network-wide shutdown.
Electrical Installation
Input and main output are on terminal blocks, so installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician. Two IEC C19 (16 A) sockets are also provided on the output. For maintenance without shutting the load down, add the HotSwap MBP11Ki31 bypass.
