PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Cisco Catalyst 9300 8x10GE Network Module Spare (C9300-NM-8X=) — Local Warranty

Eight SFP+ Uplinks for Catalyst 9300

The Cisco C9300-NM-8X= is the spare (field-replacement) version of the Catalyst 9300 Series 8x 10G/1G Network Module. It installs in the network module slot of modular-uplink Catalyst 9300 switches and provides eight SFP+ slots, each supporting a 1 Gigabit or 10 Gigabit Ethernet connection, for uplinks to distribution or core switches.

1G or 10G on Every Port

Cisco's hardware installation guide describes the C9300-NM-8X as having eight 10GE slots with an SFP+ port in each slot, with each port supporting a 1GE or 10GE connection. That lets a site keep existing 1G SFP optics on some uplinks while moving others to 10G SFP+ optics or direct-attach cables.

Hot-Swappable, Field-Replaceable

Catalyst 9300 network modules are field-replaceable, and Cisco's installation guide states that all network modules are hot-swappable. A failed or outgrown uplink module can be exchanged without replacing the switch.

Which Switches It Fits

Per Cisco's Catalyst 9300 data sheet, Catalyst 3850 and Catalyst 9300 network modules are supported on Catalyst 9300 modular-uplink models (for example C9300-24T, C9300-48P, C9300-48U, C9300-24UX). Catalyst 9300X switches use their own C9300X-NM modules, and fixed-uplink Catalyst 9300L / 9300LM switches have no network module slot.

Spare Part Number

The trailing "=" in C9300-NM-8X= is Cisco's convention for a spare or field-replacement part shipped on its own, rather than a module configured into a new switch order.

Compatibility & Software Support

Host Switch Compatibility

Cisco's Catalyst 9300 data sheet states that Catalyst 3850 and Catalyst 9300 network modules are supported on the Catalyst 9300 models, and that Catalyst 9300X network modules are supported only on the Catalyst 9300X models. The C9300-NM-8X is therefore intended for Catalyst 9300 modular-uplink switches. Catalyst 9300L and 9300LM models have fixed uplinks and cannot accept a network module.

Optics

Each port accepts a 1G SFP or 10G SFP+ module. For 1G fibre uplinks, the Cisco GLC-SX-MMD (multimode, 850 nm) and Cisco GLC-LH-SMD (1310 nm, single-mode up to 10 km) are available at SourceIT. Verify any optic and software release combination in the Cisco Optics Compatibility Matrix.

Software

The module is recognised and configured by the host switch's Cisco IOS XE software; it requires no separate licence.

Lifecycle Status

As of October 2026, Cisco's Catalyst 9300 Series End-of-Life notice listing does not include an End-of-Sale notice for the C9300-NM-8X.

Warranty

Local Singapore warranty. For warranty claims, keep your SourceIT invoice as proof of purchase.

Frequently Asked Questions — Cisco C9300-NM-8X

Does the C9300-NM-8X support 1G SFP modules?

Yes. Cisco states each of the eight SFP+ ports supports a 1GE or 10GE connection.

Will it fit a Catalyst 9300L or 9300X?

No for the 9300L/9300LM, which have fixed uplinks. Catalyst 9300X switches use the C9300X-NM range; Cisco lists Catalyst 3850 and 9300 network modules as supported on Catalyst 9300 models.

Can I replace it while the switch is running?

Cisco's Catalyst 9300 installation guide states that all network modules are hot-swappable.

Are transceivers included?

No. This spare is the module only; SFP or SFP+ optics are ordered separately.

What does the "=" mean in the part number?

It is Cisco's spare-part designation, meaning the module is supplied on its own for field installation or replacement.
