APC BR24BPG External Battery Pack — More Runtime for a 1500VA Back-UPS Pro
The APC BR24BPG is a 24 V DC, 372 VAh external battery pack that extends how long a compatible 1500 VA Back-UPS Pro can carry your load through an outage. In Singapore that usually means one of two things: riding out a longer PUB interruption instead of just a storm-time dip, or buying enough time for a clean, unattended shutdown of a workstation or small server when nobody is in the office.
What It Fits
APC specifies the BR24BPG for 1500 VA Back-UPS Pro models. In the SourceIT catalogue that is the APC Back-UPS Pro BR1500GI, whose own data sheet names the BR24BP / BR24BPG as its extended-runtime option. It is not compatible with the BR650MI, BR900MI, BR1300MI, BR1600MI, BR1200SI, BR1600SI or BR500CI-AS — none of those models has an external battery connector. Which UPS models the BR24BPG fits
APC lists the BR24BPG for 1500 VA Back-UPS Pro units. The model SourceIT stocks that accepts it is the BR1500GI (1500 VA / 865 W, 10 x IEC C13). The BR1500GI data sheet names the BR24BP and BR24BPG as its external battery pack options, which is the confirmation that matters.
It does not fit the rest of the Back-UPS Pro BR range sold here — BR650MI, BR900MI, BR1300MI, BR1600MI, BR1200SI, BR1600SI and BR500CI-AS have no external battery connector. If you need longer runtime on one of those, the answer is a larger UPS, not a pack.
How much extra runtime
The pack is rated 372 VAh at 24 V DC. How many extra minutes that buys depends entirely on the load: at a light load it can more than double the runtime of the internal battery, and at a heavy load the gain is proportionally smaller. Schneider publishes no runtime-versus-load table for this pack, so we do not print one. Tell SourceIT your load in watts and we will calculate it.
Installation and rack space
The pack is a tower enclosure designed to stand beside or beneath the UPS — it takes no rack U and needs no rail kit. It connects to the UPS with the supplied cable. APC does not describe this pack as hot-connectable, so shut the UPS down before attaching it. Recharge time for the combined bank is longer than for the UPS alone; allow the unit to charge fully before you rely on the extra runtime.
