Four Radios per Unit, One Free for the Link Between Them
Quad-band means 6 GHz-1 at 11530 Mbps, 6 GHz-2 at 11530 Mbps, 5 GHz at 8647 Mbps and 2.4 GHz at 1148 Mbps per unit. TP-Link publishes the WiFi Range of the system as Broader Whole Home Coverage, built from its mesh technology with optional Ethernet backhaul, AI-Driven Mesh that learns the network environment, twelve internal high-gain antennas and the quad-band radio set. Capacity is published as Very High: 4×4 MU-MIMO, OFDMA and 16 streams, four on each band. Wi-Fi 7 Throughout: MLO, 320 MHz and 4K-QAM
Both units run IEEE 802.11be/ax on 6 GHz, 802.11be/ax/ac/n/a on 5 GHz and 802.11ax/n/b/g on 2.4 GHz. Multi-Link Operation lets a capable client hold more than one band at a time, 4K-QAM raises the data carried per symbol, and TP-Link's footnote △ puts the 320 MHz channel width at double the 160 MHz of Wi-Fi 6 mesh while noting that 320 MHz is only available on the 6 GHz band. All of it depends on the client supporting the same features.
10 Gbps and SFP+ on Every Node
Each unit carries one 10 Gbps port, one 10 Gbps SFP+/RJ45 combo port and two 2.5 Gbps ports, all WAN/LAN auto-sensing, plus a USB 3.0 port that TP-Link publishes with FTP, media and Samba server roles. With two units that is eight multi-gigabit ports across the property, and the SFP+ combo slot takes a fibre module directly on a Singapore 10 Gbps plan. TP-Link's footnote § notes that 10 Gbps and 2.5 Gbps internet speeds require compatible service plans and equipment, that all WAN/LAN ports operate as either WAN or LAN, and that only one port can serve as a WAN port at a time.
Wired Backhaul Is an Option, Not a Requirement
TP-Link publishes Ethernet backhaul as optional and every port is WAN/LAN auto-sensing, so the two units can be joined over cable where a run exists - useful between floors or across a concrete core - and left wireless where it does not.
HomeShield Security, Guest Networks and VPN
Published software covers HomeShield network protection with SPI firewall, access control and the five HomeShield Security items, the full HomeShield parental-control list, WPA-Personal, WPA2-Personal and WPA3-Personal encryption, three guest networks (6 GHz, 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz) with effective time and bandwidth control, and VPN server and client roles with OpenVPN, PPTP and L2TP/IPSec.
