What Microsoft Does Not Publish for This Product

The following are commonly asked about but are not stated on any current official Microsoft source for this product, so SourceIT does not quote them: a minimum seat count, which base subscriptions qualify a tenant to buy Plan 2 or the Suite, whether Microsoft 365 F1, F3 or Business Premium include Intune Plan 1, a current tier comparison mapping each advanced capability to Plan 2 or the Suite and a lifecycle policy listing for the Intune subscription SKUs. We would rather leave a field blank than print a figure we cannot substantiate.

SourceIT sells this as a twelve-month subscription with a GST invoice in Singapore. The subscription is a right to use the service for the term, not a perpetual licence: when the term ends the entitlement ends unless it is renewed.

One lifecycle point is published and it matters commercially. Microsoft's 2026 packaging and pricing FAQ set out a schedule for adding advanced Intune capabilities to eligible Enterprise Mobility + Security E3, Microsoft 365 E3 and Microsoft 365 E5 tenants: "New Intune features for eligible EMS E3, Microsoft 365 E3, and Microsoft 365 E5 tenants will begin to roll out CY26 Q3", with a named feature set scheduled "complete by August 1, 2026". The same FAQ confirms the standalone products remain on sale: "Yes. Standalone Intune Suite and add-ons will continue to be available for purchase and are appropriate for customers who do not require EMS E3, Microsoft 365 E3, or Microsoft 365 E5 plans." If you already hold E3, E5 or EMS E3, check what your tenant already holds before buying an add-on on top of it. We would rather check that with you than sell you something twice. Separately, Microsoft publishes no lifecycle listing for these subscription SKUs, so this page does not claim one.

Talk to our team before the renewal date rather than after it. Seat counts, mid-term changes and co-terming with the rest of your Microsoft estate are all easier to arrange in advance, and we can quote the alternatives if a bundle would work out better for you.

Support and Entitlement Position

This is a software subscription, not hardware. It carries no hardware warranty, and any warranty term you see on a hardware listing does not apply here. What you are buying is a twelve-month right to use the service, together with SourceIT's local support in Singapore. Microsoft's own condition is that technical and billing support for a subscription bought through a partner runs through that partner, so for this subscription that means us: raise the ticket with SourceIT and we escalate to Microsoft where it needs to go. Renewal, seat changes and co-terming are handled on your SourceIT account. Ask our team for the current entitlement position in writing with your quotation.

Check what you already own before you buy this. Several Microsoft 365 and Enterprise Mobility + Security bundles already include this service, and a tenant that buys it separately can end up paying twice for the same entitlement. Send us your current subscription list and we will check your existing entitlements before we quote.

Microsoft's stated position on who needs a licence is broad and worth reading literally: "An Intune license is required for any user or device that benefits directly or indirectly from the Microsoft Intune service." The words "or indirectly" are doing real work there — shared and service-account scenarios usually need counting too.

There is a device-only route for hardware that has no owner. Microsoft: "Intune offers a device-only subscription for managing devices that aren't affiliated with specific users, such as kiosks, dedicated devices, phone-room devices, IoT, and other single-use devices." If a meaningful share of your estate is kiosks or shared tablets, tell us — the device-only shape can change the cost materially.

Two things Microsoft does not publish, which this page will not guess at: which specific base subscriptions qualify a tenant to buy Plan 2 or the Suite beyond the statement that both are "additive to Plan 1", and whether Microsoft 365 F1, F3 or Business Premium include Intune Plan 1. Its current licensing page does not name them. Ask us and we will get the position confirmed rather than assert it here.

Do we need Plan 1 as well?

Yes. Microsoft describes Plan 2 as "additive to Plan 1", so Plan 1 has to be held underneath it — either bought directly or held through a Microsoft 365 bundle that includes it. What Microsoft does not publish is which specific base subscriptions qualify, so send us your licence list and we will confirm the position before quoting.

What does Plan 2 actually add?

Microsoft's own sentence is "Advanced endpoint management capabilities, including Remote Help and Advanced Analytics". Note the word "including" and note that a second Microsoft page lists Remote Help and Advanced Analytics as separate items alongside Plan 2 rather than inside it. Microsoft has withdrawn the page that used to settle this. We will state in writing with your quotation what Microsoft's surviving sources support.

Does Plan 2 include Microsoft Tunnel for MAM or specialty device management?

Microsoft does not publish an answer. Its advanced capabilities page lists all eight advanced capabilities together — Firmware Over-the-Air updates, specialty device management, Microsoft Tunnel for MAM, Advanced Analytics, Remote Help, Microsoft Cloud PKI, Endpoint Privilege Management and Enterprise Application Management — without mapping any of them to a tier. If one of those capabilities is the reason you are buying, tell us which and we will get it confirmed rather than assume.

We are on Microsoft 365 E3 or E5. Should we still buy this?

Check first. Microsoft's 2026 packaging FAQ set out a schedule for adding advanced Intune capabilities to eligible EMS E3, Microsoft 365 E3 and Microsoft 365 E5 tenants, with roll-out from CY26 Q3 and a named feature set scheduled complete by 1 August 2026. Buying an add-on for a capability your tenant already holds is a real risk, and we would rather look at your licence list with you than let it happen.

Would the Intune Suite be better value?

Possibly, if you would use more than one advanced capability. Microsoft describes the Suite as "additive to Plan 1. Unifies advanced endpoint management and security capabilities. Includes Plan 2." Because Microsoft no longer publishes a tier matrix, the honest comparison is a conversation about which capabilities you will actually deploy. Tell us that and we will price both.
