Microsoft Agent 365 Annual Subscription (CFQ7TTBZZR6G:0002) - Local Support
A Control Plane for the AI Agents Running in Your Organisation
Microsoft's framing: Agent 365 "provides the ability to observe, govern, and secure the growing number of agents within organizations", and its product page calls it "the control plane to observe, secure, and govern AI agents, enabling organizations to extend their existing infrastructure for users to agents". It is not a tool for building agents — it is the registry, identity and governance layer that sits over the ones you already have.
Licensed Per User, Not Per Agent — This Is the Number One Mis-Sale
Get this right and the sizing conversation becomes simple. Microsoft states: "A single Agent 365 license covers all agents associated with that user; agents themselves are not licensed", and "Agent 365 is licensed per user, whether purchased as part of Microsoft 365 E7 or as a standalone offering." Its general availability announcement puts the same point as "Each Agent 365 license covers an individual who manages or sponsors agents, or uses agents to do work on their behalf." Count the people, not the agents.
Observe, Govern, Secure
Observe: an Agent Registry giving "all their agents in a single, centralized registry providing a unified view of agent adoption, activity, and agent health", plus an Agent Map and usage analytics. Govern: the registry in the Microsoft 365 admin centre, Microsoft Entra for permissions and policies, Microsoft Purview for compliance, lifecycle management and audit logging. Secure: Entra risk-based access control, Purview information protection and data loss prevention, and Microsoft Defender threat detection. The registry covers agents from Copilot Studio, SharePoint, Agent Builder, AI Foundry, Agents Toolkit and non-Microsoft platforms.
Generally Available Since 1 May 2026, With Parts Still in Preview
Microsoft published Agent 365 as generally available for the commercial segment on 1 May 2026. Some of what shipped alongside it remains in public preview and should not be treated as production-ready: registry synchronisation with AWS Bedrock and Google Cloud, and Windows 365 for Agents, which Microsoft also notes is United States only. If either of those is part of your reason for buying, ask us to confirm the current status in writing first.
Agent 365 Annual Subscription Datasheet — Licensing and Specifications
Licensing
| Licensed by | Per user. "A single Agent 365 license covers all agents associated with that user; agents themselves are not licensed" |
| Who needs a licence | "an individual who manages or sponsors agents, or uses agents to do work on their behalf" |
| Also included in | Microsoft 365 E7, which Microsoft describes as Microsoft 365 E5 plus Agent 365, Microsoft 365 Copilot and Entra Suite |
| Free tier | Microsoft's licensing FAQ states that foundational capabilities are available to all Microsoft Cloud subscription customers at no additional cost. The licence buys the premium tier: advanced usage analytics, governance policies, security posture management, threat detection and data security controls |
| Minimum purchase and seat cap | Not published by Microsoft for either |
| Term | Twelve months as sold by SourceIT. Microsoft publishes the standalone offering as an annual commitment |
Prerequisites — Four Microsoft Sources, Four Different Lists
| July 2026 Partner Center announcement | "customers must have one of the following prerequisite licenses: Microsoft 365 E5/A5/Business Premium; Microsoft Defender Suite and Microsoft Purview Suite; Microsoft Defender Suite Edu and Microsoft Purview Suite Edu; Microsoft Defender and Purview Suite FLW" |
| June 2026 Partner Center announcement | Enterprise customers must have Microsoft 365 E5; frontline users need Defender and Purview at F5 level; SMB customers need Microsoft 365 Business Premium |
| Microsoft Licensing FAQ 122 | "Enterprise customers need Microsoft 365 E5 or Microsoft 365 E3 plus both Defender Suite and Purview Suite" — the E3-plus-suites route appears here and nowhere else |
| The product documentation | Softer again: "Microsoft Agent 365 works best when using Microsoft E5 as a pre-requisite" and "At least one user must be licensed with a qualifying Microsoft Agent 365 license to enable Agent 365" |
| How to read this | The four statements do not reconcile. This page treats the July 2026 Partner Center list as primary and flags the E3 route as appearing in one source only. Ask us to confirm your eligibility in writing before you order |
Data Residency and Retention
| Customer content | "Agent 365 observability service stores customer content in the default geography of the tenant" |
| Service-generated data | "certain categories of Agent 365 service-generated data, such as data used for service metrics and analytics, might be replicated and stored in the European Union (EU) for EU-based tenants, and in the United States for tenants in all other regions" |
| Asia-Pacific, named explicitly | "in limited circumstances, including for some tenants located in Asia-Pacific (APAC), this specific service-generated data might be stored outside the tenant's default home geography" |
| Advanced Data Residency | "Agent 365 doesn't currently support Advanced Data Residency (ADR)" — and Singapore is not an ADR geography in any case |
| Observability data retention | 30 days, then automatically deleted |
What Microsoft Does Not Publish for This Product
The following are commonly asked about but are not stated on any current official Microsoft source for this product, so SourceIT does not quote them: a minimum seat count or seat cap, any per-agent limit or agent quota attached to a user licence, a single reconciled prerequisite list, a lifecycle or retirement page for Agent 365 and a Singapore dollar list price. We would rather leave a field blank than print a figure we cannot substantiate.
Lifecycle, End of Support and Entitlement
SourceIT sells this as a twelve-month subscription with a GST invoice in Singapore. The subscription is a right to use the service for the term, not a perpetual licence: when the term ends the entitlement ends unless it is renewed.
Agent 365 became generally available for the commercial segment on 1 May 2026. Microsoft publishes no lifecycle page for it and no retirement, rename or replacement announcement, so this listing makes no lifecycle claim. Several capabilities that shipped around general availability remain in public preview: registry synchronisation with AWS Bedrock and Google Cloud, and Windows 365 for Agents, which Microsoft notes is United States only. Treat preview features as subject to change and ask us to confirm their status before you build a plan around them.
Talk to our team before the renewal date rather than after it. Seat counts, mid-term changes and co-terming with the rest of your Microsoft estate are all easier to arrange in advance, and we can quote the alternatives if a bundle would work out better for you.
Support and Entitlement Position
This is a software subscription, not hardware. It carries no hardware warranty, and any warranty term you see on a hardware listing does not apply here. What you are buying is a twelve-month right to use the service, together with SourceIT's local support in Singapore. Microsoft's own condition is that technical and billing support for a subscription bought through a partner runs through that partner, so for this subscription that means us: raise the ticket with SourceIT and we escalate to Microsoft where it needs to go. Renewal, seat changes and co-terming are handled on your SourceIT account. Ask our team for the current entitlement position in writing with your quotation.
Compatibility, Deployment and System Requirements
Size this by counting people, not agents. Microsoft is unambiguous: "A single Agent 365 license covers all agents associated with that user; agents themselves are not licensed." The licensable population is anyone who manages or sponsors agents, or who uses agents to do work on their behalf. Get that list from whoever owns your AI programme rather than from a headcount export, and we will quote against it.
The prerequisite question needs settling before you order, because Microsoft's own sources give four different answers. The July 2026 Partner Center list — Microsoft 365 E5, A5 or Business Premium, or the Defender and Purview Suites in their various forms — is the one this page treats as primary. Microsoft's licensing FAQ adds a route via Microsoft 365 E3 plus both the Defender Suite and the Purview Suite that appears nowhere else. Send us your licence list and we will get your eligibility confirmed in writing rather than let you discover it at provisioning.
On data location, Microsoft is more forthcoming here than on most of its AI products, and the answer has a caveat that matters in Singapore. Customer content stays in the tenant's default geography. Service-generated metrics and analytics data, however, is stored in the European Union for EU tenants and in the United States for tenants in all other regions, and Microsoft names Asia-Pacific explicitly as a region where this data may sit outside the home geography. Agent 365 also does not support Advanced Data Residency. Singapore is not one of the geographies Microsoft lists for Advanced Data Residency. Microsoft's published ADR list runs Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Denmark, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Qatar, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom — Malaysia and Indonesia are on it and Singapore is not. Advanced Data Residency also requires 100 per cent licence coverage of the paid licences in a tenant. Separately, the EU Data Boundary covers the 27 EU member states plus Liechtenstein, Iceland, Norway and Switzerland, scoped by sign-up location, so a Singapore-registered tenant is out of scope for it. If data residency is a hard requirement for your organisation, raise it with us before you order rather than after.

Frequently Asked Questions — Agent 365 Annual Subscription
Do we buy one licence per agent?
No, and this is the most expensive misunderstanding on this product. Microsoft states: "A single Agent 365 license covers all agents associated with that user; agents themselves are not licensed" and "Agent 365 is licensed per user." You licence the people who manage, sponsor or are served by agents. Count those people and we will quote against that number.
What do we need to already have?
Microsoft's own sources give four different answers, so we will show you all of them rather than pick one. Its July 2026 Partner Center announcement lists Microsoft 365 E5, A5 or Business Premium, or the Microsoft Defender Suite with the Microsoft Purview Suite including their Edu and FLW variants. Its June 2026 announcement lists E5 for enterprise, Defender and Purview at F5 level for frontline, and Business Premium for SMB. Its licensing FAQ adds a Microsoft 365 E3 plus Defender Suite plus Purview Suite route that appears nowhere else. Send us your licence list and we will get your position confirmed in writing.
Is it fully generally available?
The product is, for the commercial segment, since 1 May 2026. Some capabilities that shipped around then are still in public preview and should not be planned around as production features: registry synchronisation with AWS Bedrock and Google Cloud, and Windows 365 for Agents, which Microsoft notes is United States only. If either matters to you, ask us to confirm the current status before you order.
Where does our agent data live?
Customer content stays in your tenant's default geography. Service-generated data such as metrics and analytics is a different matter: Microsoft stores it in the European Union for EU tenants and "in the United States for tenants in all other regions", and it names Asia-Pacific explicitly as a region where this data may sit outside the home geography. Microsoft also states that "Agent 365 doesn't currently support Advanced Data Residency". Observability data is retained for 30 days and then automatically deleted.
Do we get anything without buying a licence?
Some of it, yes. Microsoft's licensing FAQ states that foundational capabilities are available to all Microsoft Cloud subscription customers at no additional cost. The paid licence buys the premium tier: advanced usage analytics, governance policies, security posture management, threat detection and data security controls. If you are not sure which side of that line your requirement sits on, describe what you need to do and we will tell you whether you need to buy anything.
