The Lenovo NanoSaver Combination Cable Lock is keyless: a four-wheel combination with 10,000 possible codes, set at the factory and resettable by the user. For a fleet, that removes key management entirely — nobody hands out keys, nobody loses one, and nobody needs a key register when a laptop changes hands.
A 1.8 Metre Carbon Steel Cable, Thicker Than the Essential Model
1.8 metres of 5 mm carbon steel, against the Essential model's 1.5 metres of 4.5 mm galvanised steel. The extra length matters more than it sounds — it is the difference between reaching a bolted desk leg and not.
A Push-Button Head Designed for One Hand
Lenovo builds a push-button head for one-handed operation with a tamper-resistant lockhead. A lock that can be attached with one hand while the other holds the laptop is a lock that actually gets used, which is most of the battle.
Check the Slot on Your Laptop First
This lock fits the Nano security slot only. It will not fit a standard Kensington Security Slot or a Kensington MicroSaver 2.0 slot. Look at the machine before ordering — the compatibility section below is the first thing to read on this page.

Compatibility & Fit
Before you order: check your laptop has a Nano security slot
This is the single thing most likely to cause a return on a cable lock, so it is at the top of the page rather than buried. Both Lenovo NanoSaver locks use a cleat head sized for the Nano security slot — the small rectangular slot found on recent ThinkPads and many current business laptops. They will not fit a standard Kensington Security Slot, the larger T-bar slot on older machines, and they will not fit a Kensington MicroSaver 2.0 slot either. Look at the actual machine before you order, or send us the model and we will check it for you. Lenovo also makes a twin-head lock (part 4XE1B81919) that fits both a Nano and a MicroSaver 2.0 slot — ask us and we will quote it if your fleet is mixed.
Why a combination lock wins at scale. Fifty keyed locks means fifty pairs of keys, a register of which key belongs to which lock, and a decision every time someone leaves. Fifty combination locks means one number, or fifty numbers stored wherever your organisation stores such things. The combination is resettable, so a lock reassigned to a new user can be re-coded rather than replaced. For anything beyond a handful of laptops, that is the practical argument.
And the argument against. A forgotten combination is a cut cable. Ten thousand codes is enough to deter guessing and not enough to be unguessable given time, so this is a deterrent rather than a vault. Decide how your organisation will record the codes before you deploy them — a spreadsheet on the same laptop the lock is securing is not the answer.
What a cable lock actually does. It defeats opportunistic theft — a laptop lifted from an unattended desk, a hot desk, a co-working space, a trade stand or a hotel room. It does not stop a determined thief with tools, and Lenovo does not claim it does. The value is turning a five-second theft into a noisy several-minute one.
Where to anchor it. The cable needs something genuinely immovable — a bolted desk leg, a fixed rail, a purpose-made anchor. Looping it round a light table or a drawer unit that lifts away achieves nothing. The extra 300 mm of cable over the Essential model exists precisely to reach a better anchor point. If your furniture has none, ask us and we can quote anchor plates.

Yes. Lenovo ships it with a preset combination which is resettable by the user, across four wheels giving 10,000 possible codes. Change it before you deploy the lock, and record the code somewhere that is not on the laptop it secures.
How is it different from the Essential model?
Three ways. It is keyless where the Essential is keyed with two keys. Its cable is 1.8 m of 5 mm carbon steel against 1.5 m of 4.5 mm galvanised steel. And it has a push-button one-handed head with a tamper-resistant lockhead. It weighs 20 g more. Both fit the same Nano slot and both carry a 3-year warranty.
What if I forget the combination?
You will have to cut the cable. That is the trade-off against a keyed lock, where the risk is losing the key instead. Decide how your organisation will record the codes before deploying these — and not on the laptop the lock is securing.
Is 10,000 combinations enough?
For a deterrent, yes. It is enough that nobody guesses it standing at your desk, and not enough to be unguessable given hours alone with the lock. Like every cable lock at this level, it defeats opportunistic theft rather than a determined attack — which is what most laptop theft actually is.
What warranty applies in Singapore?
Lenovo publishes 3 years for this lock. Every unit SourceIT sells also carries local Singapore warranty support and a GST invoice.
