Wi-Fi 7 Tri-Band Access for Everyday Offices
The Fortinet FortiAP 231K (FAP-231K-S) is an 802.11be Wi-Fi 7 indoor access point with three radios, one each on the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz bands, and internal antennas for a clean ceiling or wall installation. It is built for offices, classrooms, clinics and retail sites moving to Wi-Fi 7.
Up to 9.335 Gbps Combined Radio Rate
Fortinet rates the 2x2 radios at up to 688 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, 2.882 Gbps on 5 GHz (up to 160 MHz channels) and 5.765 Gbps on 6 GHz with 320 MHz channels, for a combined maximum of 9.335 Gbps. Each client-serving radio supports up to 256 clients.
5GE Uplink Powered by Standard PoE+
A single 5/2.5/1 Gigabit RJ45 port carries both data and power from an 802.3at PoE source, such as a FortiSwitch PoE model, FortiGate PoE port or PoE injector. Fortinet lists maximum power consumption at 15.2 W, and an optional 12 V DC adapter is available where PoE is not.
Managed from Your FortiGate
FortiAP access points are managed by a FortiGate acting as the wireless controller or through Fortinet cloud management, so wireless policy sits alongside your firewall and FortiSwitch configuration. Bluetooth Low Energy is built in.

What It Is Suited To
Offices, classrooms, clinics, retail and hospitality spaces that want Wi-Fi 7 with 6 GHz support in a compact internal-antenna access point. For high-density areas such as auditoriums or large open-plan floors, step up to the 4x4 FortiAP 441K.
Controller & Management
Managed by a FortiGate acting as the wireless controller, or cloud managed. Using a FortiGate lets you apply the same security policies to wired and wireless users. Wi-Fi 7 and 6 GHz operation require a FortiOS / FortiAP firmware release that supports the K-series; ask us to check your FortiGate firmware before ordering.
Powering the Access Point
Power it from any 802.3at (PoE+) source, for example a FortiSwitch PoE model, a FortiGate PoE port or a PoE injector, or use the optional SP-FAP200-PA 12 V DC adapter.
