The Eaton 9A 9A1000IR is a 1000 VA / 900 W true online double-conversion UPS in a 2U rack-mount chassis. Every watt your equipment draws is regenerated by the inverter, so connected loads see a clean, regulated sine wave whatever is happening on the incoming supply — sags, surges, frequency drift or a full outage. It is Eaton's Advantage-series online UPS for East Asia, aimed at SMEs, IT, networking, storage, telecom and industrial-automation loads.
With a 0.9 output power factor you get 900 W of real power from a 1000 VA unit, which leaves more usable headroom for modern servers and switches with active-PFC power supplies.
Wide 176–300 V Input Window
The 9A runs from 176 V to 300 V without derating and keeps working down to 100 V with derating, so brown-outs on a loaded riser or site supply are absorbed without draining the battery. Output is selectable at 220, 230 or 240 V (±1%) at 50 or 60 Hz. Eaton quotes up to 88–90% efficiency in online mode, and an ECO mode (up to 97% per the user guide) is available where maximum efficiency matters more than full conditioning.
4 x IEC C13 Outlets, LCD Status and a Card Slot for Network Management
Output is on 4 x IEC C13 sockets with IEC C14 input. A segment LCD with red warning indication shows status at a glance. Standard ports are RS232, USB, EPO and an external battery connector, plus a mini slot for an Eaton NMC (network management), CMC (Modbus) or AS400 relay card for SNMP monitoring and remote shutdown.
Scalable Runtime with External Battery Modules
Internal batteries (2 x 12 V / 9 Ah) give about 4 minutes at full load — enough to ride through short outages or shut down gracefully. For longer runtime, add up to 4 9AEBM24R external battery modules; Eaton publishes 25 minutes at 100% load with one EBM.

What It Is Suited To
The 9A1000IR suits rack-mounted servers, storage, switches and firewalls in a 19-inch 4-post cabinet. Total the continuous watts of your load and keep it comfortably below 900 W; with online double conversion the equipment is always fed from the inverter, making it a good fit for sensitive or voltage-intolerant loads.
Monitoring and Shutdown
The USB and RS232 ports work with Eaton WinPower for automatic shutdown (Eaton lists WinPower for Windows, Linux, Unix and macOS). Note the USB port is non-HID, so use WinPower rather than relying on the operating system's built-in UPS support. For SNMP / web monitoring and network-wide shutdown, fit the Eaton NMC mini card in the slot; a CMC card adds Modbus and the AS400 card provides relay contacts.
Outlets
Output sockets are 4 x IEC C13. Equipment with BS 1363 (Type G) plugs needs an IEC C14 lead or an IEC-input power strip; ask us if you need one quoted.

What does online double conversion mean?
The load is always powered by the inverter from a regulated DC bus, so there is no transfer gap when mains fails and the output stays clean and stable regardless of input quality. Line-interactive units such as the 5E or 5P only regulate and switch to battery when needed.
How long will it run on battery?
Eaton publishes about 4 minutes at 100% load on internal batteries and 25 minutes with one 9AEBM24R module. Runtime is much longer at partial load — check Eaton's runtime graph for 9A1000iR or send us your load in watts.
Can I monitor it over the network?
Yes, with an optional Eaton NMC mini card in the card slot. Without a card, use WinPower over USB or RS232 for local shutdown.
Are rack rails included?
Yes. Eaton's user guide lists a mounting kit for 19-inch 4-post enclosures in the box.
What warranty do I get?
3 years from Eaton, supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore support and a GST invoice.
