0.496 Fixed Throw: A Full Screen From Half the Distance
The LK830ST is built for simulation bays where there is simply no room behind the player. Its fixed 0.496 throw ratio means the throw distance is roughly half the image width: a 120-inch 16:9 image, 2.66 metres wide, is produced from about 1.3 metres. That puts the projector well forward of the hitting position and clear of the swing arc, and in a domestic garage or a partitioned clubhouse bay it is often the only geometry that works at all. The 114% offset lets it hang above the line of sight and still cover a full-height impact screen.
Laser Light Source Rated 20,000 to 30,000 Hours
Laser illumination rated at 20,000 hours in Normal mode and 30,000 hours in ECO removes lamp modules from the running cost of a simulator entirely. A commercial bay open twelve hours a day, every day, consumes roughly 4,400 hours a year, so the ECO rating covers the best part of seven years. 4K With 93% Rec.709 for Close-Range Viewing
A player stands two to three metres from a simulator screen, which is far closer than any cinema seat, so resolution and colour accuracy are visible in a way they are not in a living room. The LK830ST delivers native 4K UHD (3840x2160) at 4,000 ANSI lumens with a published 3,000,000:1 contrast ratio, 30-bit colour for 1.07 billion colours and 93% Rec.709 coverage. Fairway texture, rough, bunker edges and distance overlays read cleanly at that viewing distance, and the brightness holds the image up against the room lighting a commercial bay has to keep on.
Dual HDMI 2.0b, LAN Control and a 15W Speaker
Two HDMI 2.0b inputs with HDCP 2.2 take the simulator PC and a second source without an external switch. An RJ45 LAN port allows the projector to be monitored and controlled over the venue network - useful where several bays are managed centrally - alongside RS-232 for a hardware room controller. Two USB Type-A ports handle media and service, a 3.5mm audio output feeds the bay's sound system, and a 15W speaker is built in for smaller installations. Noise is a published 30 dB typical and 24 dB in Eco, quiet enough to sit above a player's head.

Compatibility & Installation
Throw distance and screen size in a simulator bay
The throw ratio is a fixed 0.496, so throw distance equals image width multiplied by 0.496. Working from that published figure: a 100-inch 16:9 image is 2.21 metres wide and needs about 1.1 metres of throw distance; a 120-inch image is 2.66 metres wide and needs about 1.3 metres; a 150-inch image is 3.32 metres wide and needs about 1.65 metres. Read the other way, a projector mounted 2.0 metres from the screen produces an image about 4.0 metres wide, which is roughly 182 inches on the 16:9 diagonal. There is no optical zoom, so the mounting distance sets the image size exactly - measure before fixing the bracket, and confirm your simulator software's output aspect ratio, since most impact screens are wider than 16:9.
Mounting in an enclosure
Projection offset is 114%, so the lens can sit well above the top of the image and the projector can be ceiling-mounted clear of the hitting area. 2D keystone gives auto vertical correction of +/-30 degrees and horizontal correction of +/-30 degrees for an off-centre bracket. The LK830ST uses a serviceable dust filter; leave access for filter cleaning and keep the intake and exhaust clear of netting and acoustic padding.

Is there a zoom lens?

Yes. The LK830ST has an RJ45 LAN port for network control and monitoring, plus RS-232 for a hardware room controller. Network standby draws under 2W.
Does it need an external speaker?
Not necessarily. A 15W speaker is built in, and a 3.5mm audio output is provided for a bay sound system where more output is wanted.
