The UC232A and UC232A1 turn a USB Type-A port into a DB-9 male RS-232 serial port, so modern laptops and PCs without a COM port can talk to serial equipment.

Two Cable Lengths
The UC232A has a compact 35 cm cable for laptop bags and tool kits; the UC232A1 has a 1 m cable to reach equipment in a rack or cabinet.
