The RNUC16JNK9X289A3-White is the flagship RTX 5080 build of the ROG NUC 16 in ASUS's white chassis option — the same Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus processor, the same 16 GB GDDR7 RTX 5080 Laptop GPU and the same 32 GB DDR5-6400 memory as the black RNUC16JNK9X289A3, with nothing but the shell finish changed. If you want the most capable ROG NUC 16 build and a chassis that reads as a display piece rather than disappearing into a stack of dark hardware, this is the SKU.
A 1 TB NVMe SSD is fitted, Windows 11 Home is pre-installed, and the system arrives complete and ready to run.
Top of the Range, Regardless of Colour
This is not a cut-down "white edition" — it carries the exact same silicon as the black flagship. The RTX 5080 Laptop GPU's 16 GB of GDDR7 and 7,680 CUDA cores, rated at 1,334 AI TOPS by NVIDIA, are what put this configuration at the top of the ROG NUC 16 line, and that does not change with chassis colour. Where the RTX 5070 Ti caps out for demanding native 4K work or larger local AI models, this configuration has the frame buffer to keep going.
Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus, 32 GB DDR5-6400
24 cores (8 Performance + 16 Efficient), 24 threads, 36 MB of Intel Smart Cache, 5.5 GHz maximum turbo. Memory ships as 32 GB across two DDR5-6400 CSO-DIMM modules in dual channel, and storage is a 1 TB M.2 2280 NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD with a second, empty M.2 slot left for expansion.

Cooling Is Unaffected by the Colourway
The white flagship uses the identical QuietFlow Cooling as its black sibling: three 102 x 102 x 17 mm fans against a dual vapor chamber, plus a dedicated SSD heatsink that ASUS states holds drive temperatures around 59 °C against 72 °C without it. This configuration carries the heaviest combined CPU/GPU thermal load in the ROG NUC 16 range, so expect fan noise to sit at or above ASUS's published 38 dBA full-load figure for the range under sustained work — the white shell changes nothing about that.
Vertical or Horizontal Placement
A patented removable stand ships in the box, and both orientations are supported without any published thermal penalty either way. A white chassis on an open desk, positioned vertically, tends to be the more deliberate display choice; horizontal suits an AV cabinet or under-monitor placement where visibility matters less.
Memory and Storage Headroom
32 GB of DDR5-6400 occupies both CSO-DIMM slots as shipped. ASUS's specification table states a maximum of 64 GB DDR5-5600 SO-DIMM x2 or 64 GB DDR5-6400 CSO-DIMM x2 — ambiguous between 64 GB total and 64 GB per module, and ASUS has not clarified which on its public pages, so confirm the actual ceiling with SourceIT before planning an upgrade. A second, empty M.2 2280 slot is available for extra storage.
