TP-Link Pan/Tilt Smart AI Baby Monitor (Tapo C840) - 3 Years Local Warranty
The Tapo C840 is a pan/tilt baby monitor with two lenses: a 2K 4MP wide-angle lens (2560 x 1440) that covers the nursery and a 1080p zoom lens (1920 x 1080) for a closer view of the cot. On-device AI handles baby-cry, sleep, covered-face, safety-fence and baby-leave detection, and the box includes a Tapo S135B Bluetooth button, a gooseneck clamp mount and a 3 m USB-C power cord.
Two Lenses in One Live View
TP-Link describes the pairing as 4MP + 2MP dual-lens live view: crisp images from the 4MP wide-angle lens and a closer look from the 1080p telephoto lens. The wide-angle lens has a 144° diagonal field of view and the zoom lens 55°, both at F1.6 on a 1/2.9" sensor, with 850 nm and 940 nm IR LEDs and an auto-switching IR-cut filter for night viewing.
Baby-Specific AI Detection
The detection list is built around a nursery rather than a front door: Baby Crying, Sleep, Covered Face, Safety Fence and Baby Leave detection, alongside motion, visitor, pet, camera-tampering, cat-meow, dog-bark and glass-break detection. TP-Link states the phone is notified when the baby is awake, fussy, face-covered or rolled over. Activity zones apply to covered-face, motion, visitor and pet detection only.
Lullabies, BabySnap and a Bluetooth Button
The Tapo app offers a collection of lullabies to help settle a child, and BabySnap captures moments to look back on later. The included Tapo S135B Bluetooth button pairs over the camera's Bluetooth 5.0 radio, which is also used for setup. Two-way audio with noise cancellation lets a parent speak through the camera, and a 94 dB siren is available.
Flexible Mounting and Open Integration
Mounting options are tabletop, crib-mounted (with the gooseneck clamp), wall-mounted and ceiling-mounted, with an L-shaped bracket, metal plate and cable clips in the box. The camera connects over 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz Wi-Fi, supports RTSP and ONVIF, and TP-Link lists Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, Samsung SmartThings and Apple HomeKit integration. Recording goes to a microSD card up to 512 GB or to Tapo Care cloud storage by subscription.
