The PGW2440 KIT pairs a PG2400P passthrough powerline adapter at the router with a PGW2440 powerline Wi-Fi 6 extender in the room that needs coverage. G.hn MIMO powerline runs at up to 1428 Mbps over existing electrical wiring for up to 300 metres, and the extender broadcasts AX1800 Wi-Fi 6 — 1201 Mbps on 5 GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz — with 2+1 Gigabit Ethernet ports across the kit.

G.hn MIMO Instead of HomePlug

G.hn MIMO is a newer powerline standard than HomePlug AV2, with TP-Link quoting up to 1428 Mbps and up to 300 m over existing wiring, secured with 128-bit AES. It is compatible with all routers and G.hn powerline adapters but not with HomePlug AV/AV2 adapters, so it cannot be mixed with older TP-Link TL-PA or TL-WPA units.

AX1800 Wi-Fi 6 Where the Signal Is Weak

The PGW2440 end creates Wi-Fi 6 at 1201 Mbps on 5 GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, supporting WPA3. Smart Roaming works with devices that support 802.11k/v. It is a practical fix for a back bedroom or an upstairs room in a landed house where concrete walls block the router's Wi-Fi.

2+1 Gigabit Ports and a Passthrough Socket

The PG2400P adapter at the router has two Gigabit ports and a passthrough power socket, so the wall outlet is not lost. The PGW2440 extender has one Gigabit port for a TV, console or desktop. Two Ethernet cables are included.

Mesh Support and tpPLC Management

TP-Link's specification lists OneMesh support for a unified network with a OneMesh router, and TP-Link Singapore's EasyMesh product list includes the PGW2440 KIT (hardware V1.10). Settings are managed in the tpPLC app or the tpPLC utility for PCs.
