TP-Link 5G AXE3600 Mobile Router (M8550) - 3 Years Local Warranty
The M8550 is TP-Link's 5G pocket router with tri-band Wi-Fi 6E: 688 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, 2880 Mbps on 5 GHz or 2880 Mbps on 6 GHz under 802.11ax, a 1.44-inch TFT touchscreen, a Gigabit WAN/LAN port, a USB-C power port and a 4700 mAh battery rated by TP-Link for up to 15 hours. It takes a Nano SIM, shares one 5G connection with up to 32 devices and reads Micro SD cards up to 2 TB.
5G in a Pocket-Sized Router
TP-Link headlines the M8550 at up to 3.4 Gbps 5G download, and its specification table lists 5G data rates of 7.01 Gbps down and 1.25 Gbps up, with LTE/4G at 1.6 Gbps down and 211 Mbps up. Real speeds depend on local 5G coverage, the data plan and network load, so treat those as ceilings rather than expectations. Band support is published separately for TP-Link's US and EU versions.
Wi-Fi 6E on the 6 GHz Band
Beyond the usual 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, the M8550 can broadcast on 6 GHz for Wi-Fi 6E clients, where there is far less congestion than on 5 GHz in a busy office or hotel. TP-Link lists selectable modes: 2.4 GHz only, 5 GHz only, 6 GHz only, 2.4 GHz with 5 GHz, or 2.4 GHz with 6 GHz. Older phones and laptops without 6E simply use 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz.
Touchscreen, Gigabit Port and Micro SD
A 1.44-inch TFT touchscreen shows status at a glance without opening an app. The Gigabit WAN/LAN port lets the M8550 feed a wired device or take a wired connection in, and the Micro SD slot supports cards up to 2 TB (card sold separately) for sharing files with connected devices.
4700 mAh Battery for a Working Day
The 4700 mAh battery is included in the box and TP-Link rates it for up to 15 hours of working time, noting that actual battery time varies with the environment. It charges over USB-C; TP-Link lists 5V-3A, 9V-2A and 12V-1.5A power supply ratings. Up to 32 devices can share the connection simultaneously.

Does the M8550 need a 5G SIM?
It takes a Nano SIM and falls back to 4G/LTE (and 3G on the EU version) where 5G is unavailable. The SIM must be activated and have no PIN lock.
Can it run 5 GHz and 6 GHz at the same time?
TP-Link lists 2.4 GHz with 5 GHz, or 2.4 GHz with 6 GHz, as the combined modes — not 5 GHz and 6 GHz together.
Can I connect a wired device?
Yes. The Gigabit WAN/LAN port can serve a wired device or take a wired internet connection.
