The Deco BE65-5G combines a Sub-6 GHz 5G modem with a BE9300 tri-band Wi-Fi 7 mesh router: insert a SIM card and it shares a 5G, 4G or 3G mobile connection over 5765 Mbps on 6 GHz, 2882 Mbps on 5 GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. Three 2.5 Gbps ports mean it can also run from a wired broadband line, and it joins a Deco mesh network like any other Deco unit.
5G Broadband from a SIM Card
TP-Link rates the 5G connection at download speeds up to 3.4 Gbps with latency as low as 1 ms, and notes that actual 5G speeds depend on the service plan, live network capacity, equipment and environment. The published bands cover 5G n1/n3/n5/n7/n8/n20/n28/n38/n40/n41/n75/n76/n77/n78, 4G B1/B3/B5/B7/B8/B20/B28/B32/B38/B40/B41/B42/B43 and 3G B1/B5/B8, with two SMA-F ports for optional external 5G/4G/3G antennas. Check that your mobile operator's bands appear in that list before ordering.
Tri-Band Wi-Fi 7 with MLO and 320 MHz
The Wi-Fi side runs 6 GHz, 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz with 2x2 MU-MIMO, OFDMA and six streams. Multi-Link Operation lets a Wi-Fi 7 client use the 5 GHz and 6 GHz bands together, and 320 MHz channels are available on 6 GHz. TP-Link quotes 1.8x faster Wi-Fi than a Wi-Fi 6/6E mesh and 4x lower latency in laboratory testing, both with Wi-Fi 7 clients using MLO.
Three 2.5 Gbps Ports and Wired Fallback
All three 2.5 Gbps ports are WAN/LAN auto-sensing, with one acting as WAN at a time. That allows a wired fibre connection alongside the SIM, wired backhaul to other Deco units, or 2.5G links to a NAS or switch. TP-Link states 2.5 Gbps internet speeds require compatible service plans and equipment.
HomeShield and Deco App Management
HomeShield adds real-time IoT protection, malicious site blocking, intrusion prevention, DDoS prevention and a home network scanner, plus parental controls and QoS by device; the basic tier is free and TP-Link charges for its Security+ and parental-control packages. Guest networks run on all three bands, an IoT network keeps smart devices separate, and everything is set up in the Deco app.
