WiFi 7 for Your Windows 11 PC
The NETGEAR Nighthawk A9000 is a tri-band WiFi 7 (IEEE 802.11be) USB 3.0 adapter rated BE6500 — up to 6.5 Gbps combined across the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz bands. It adds WiFi 7 to a Windows 11 PC for 4K/8K streaming, video conferencing and online gaming, and works with any router, including older WiFi standards.
Tri-Band with 6 GHz Access
NETGEAR rates the A9000 at up to 688 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, 2882 Mbps on 5 GHz and 2882 Mbps on 6 GHz. The adapter automatically selects the best band, with 2-stream MU-MIMO on each band, OFDMA and Beamforming+ to improve range and performance.
Flip-Open Antenna and USB Cradle
A flip-open antenna houses two internal high-gain antennas, and the included USB 3.0 cable with cradle lets you position the adapter away from the PC for a stronger WiFi signal. WPA3 security is supported.

Compatibility & Software Support
Operating System
Designed for Windows 11 PCs. NETGEAR states the A9000 is not compatible with Windows 10 or earlier, and that WiFi 7 features and the 6 GHz band require Windows 11. NETGEAR also states it is not compatible with Mac or Linux.
Driver Installation
The installation program is supplied on the included USB thumb drive and can also be downloaded from NETGEAR. Make sure Windows 11 is up to date, run the installer, then connect to your WiFi network from the Windows WiFi settings. The installer offers the option to disable other WiFi adapters, which NETGEAR recommends for best performance.
Routers & USB Ports
Works with any router and all WiFi standards. WiFi 7 features require a compatible WiFi 7 router or gateway, and MU-MIMO requires router and client support. NETGEAR recommends a USB 3.0 port for best performance.
