Frequently Asked Questions — MC4-R-I
What is the difference between the MC4-R-I and the MC4-I?
The MC4-R-I runs the embedded Crestron Home OS and is configured with the Crestron Home Setup App, rather than custom programming. It also has 2 GB SDRAM and native BACnet support for up to 500 objects without a licence.
What size of home is it suited to?
Crestron positions it for single-room systems, small to medium-sized homes and MDUs, handling systems with hundreds of devices. For larger homes, Crestron recommends the CP4-R.
How is it powered?
By PoE over the LAN cable. A PWE-4803RU injector (Ethernet limited to 100 Mbps) or Crestron PoE switches can be used; these are sold separately.
Can I upgrade from a Crestron Pyng system?
Yes. Crestron describes the MC4-R-I as a replacement for a PYNG-HUB processor when upgrading a smaller system from Pyng OS to Crestron Home.
What do the package kits include?
Each kit pairs the MC4-R-I processor with one Crestron remote: HR-150, HR-310 (black or white), HR-CV-MINI, or TSR-310 touch remote (black or white).
