Frequently Asked Questions — DM-NAX-XSP
What does eARC add?
Audio can be extracted from the connected display over the HDMI output and sent to the network as a DM NAX stream, so one cable carries video and bidirectional audio, and smart TV app audio becomes available to the AoIP system.
Can it handle surround sound?
Yes. The HDMI input and eARC support Dolby formats up to Dolby Atmos or 8 channels of LPCM. Surround formats pass through to the HDMI output and can be downmixed to stereo for a 2-channel AoIP stream.
Does it work with Dante?
Yes, via AES67 compatibility mode enabled through Dante Controller. It also works with DM NVX through the AES67 secondary audio stream.
Can it turn the display on and off?
Yes. CEC over the HDMI output can switch the connected display on or off without additional programming; RS-232, IR and relays are also available.
How is it powered?
By PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at Type 2 Class 4) from a DM-PSU-ULTRA-MIDSPAN, PoE+ switch or third-party PSE. Maximum consumption is 14 W.
