4GB of LPDDR4X memory is soldered to the board, alongside 64GB of eMMC storage with microSD card expansion. This is the minimum practical memory configuration for a current ChromeOS device — comfortable for a handful of browser tabs, Google's own apps and light Android apps, but not intended for heavy multitasking with many tabs and apps open simultaneously. Connectivity & Setup
Ports for Peripherals and an External Display
Two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C ports support display output and Power Delivery charging, so either can drive an external monitor or charge the laptop, alongside two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports for a mouse or USB drive and a microSD reader for card expansion. There is no HDMI port on this model — an external display connects through one of the USB-C ports directly or via a hub.
Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth
Wireless is Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), dual band, 2x2, ahead of the Wi-Fi 5 fitted to the CM3 and C424MA in our range, paired with Bluetooth 5.2 for a mouse, keyboard or headset. There is no wired Ethernet port on this model.
Signing In with a Google Account and Managing a Fleet
ChromeOS is set up against a Google Account at first boot — a personal account for individual use, or a Google Workspace for Education account for a school fleet, letting an IT administrator enrol devices centrally and push apps and policies through the Google Admin console. Everyday Maintenance
ChromeOS updates itself automatically with no IT action required, and there is no antivirus software to install. Choosing Between the CX1 and C424MA
Both are clamshell Chromebooks aimed at budget and education deployments. The CX1 is the more compact and more affordable of the two, with an 11.6-inch display and 4GB of memory; the C424MA steps up to a 14-inch display and 8GB of memory in the configuration we carry, at a correspondingly higher price.
