Supermicro ARS-511GD-NB-LCC: DGX Station GB300 Guide SG

The Supermicro ARS-511GD-NB-LCC, sold as the Super AI Station, is Supermicro's build of the NVIDIA DGX Station GB300: a direct-to-chip liquid-cooled system around one GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Desktop Superchip, 748 GB of coherent memory, up to 20 petaFLOPS of AI performance and a ConnectX-8 SuperNIC, in a chassis that works as a deskside tower or, with a separate kit, as a 5U rack unit. The LCC suffix denotes the liquid-cooled configuration, and the machine carries the IPMI 2.0, Redfish and Silicon Root of Trust stack Supermicro ships on its rack servers. This guide covers cooling, chassis, power, management, operating environment, who it suits, and how to buy it in Singapore. It is price on request; typically quoted per configuration (GPU add-in card, storage, transceivers, support term). For all five GB300 towers side by side, see our DGX Station GB300 buyer's guide; for the ASUS range, the ASUS Agent Computer guide.

What LCC means: direct-to-chip liquid cooling

Every GB300 tower is liquid-cooled in some form, because 1,400 W of silicon is not practical to air-cool in an office. Supermicro's version is a closed-loop, direct-to-chip cold plate system, the rack-server approach scaled to a single Superchip, with five chassis fans for the remaining heat: two 140 mm, two 80 mm and one 60 mm. That is a larger fan complement than the Gigabyte W775's three 120 mm fans or the MSI WS300's single 120 mm system fan, consistent with a server-depth enclosure. Supermicro publishes no acoustic rating; plan for a machine that is audible under sustained load, and if desk noise matters, place it in a data room and work over the LAN.

Tower or 5U rack: the chassis

The ARS-511GD-NB-LCC is specified as "Tower or 5U", and the dimensions reflect it: 218.4 mm high, 454.7 mm wide and 701 mm deep, a 5U rack chassis stood on its side as a tower. At 40 kg net and 51 kg gross it is the heaviest GB300 unit we list, against 29.2 kg for the Gigabyte W775 and 27 kg for the ASUS ET900N G3, so delivery means a trolley and two people. Rackmounting needs a separate kit, and Supermicro states that a rack installation needs 6U of space, leaving 1U free below the system for power supply venting. This is the GB300 unit for an organisation that intends to start deskside and rack it later; for a pure under-desk placement, the lighter ASUS or Gigabyte pedestals are easier to live with.

Power: 1,600 W Titanium and the Singapore circuit

Supermicro fits a single 1,600 W Titanium Level supply rated at 94 % efficiency: 1,300 W on 100 to 114 V AC and the full 1,600 W on 115 to 240 V AC, so Singapore's 230 V mains puts it in the full-output band. Titanium is the highest 80 PLUS tier, one step above the Platinum unit in the Gigabyte W775 and MSI WS300 and the same tier as the ASUS ET900N G3; over thousands of hours near full load, the few percent of efficiency is real electricity and heat. The requirement on your side is the same as for any GB300 tower: a dedicated circuit confirmed by an electrician. Our DGX Station GB300 office installation checklist walks through circuit, placement, rack and network preparation.

Management and security: the Supermicro server stack

This is where the Supermicro lineage is most visible. The BMC supports IPMI 2.0 with virtual media and KVM-over-LAN, plus a Redfish API with a published reference guide, so an IT team can mount an installer, watch the console and power-cycle the box from the tools it already uses on Supermicro rack servers. Security is Silicon Root of Trust described as NIST 800-193 compliant, plus TPM 2.0. The dedicated 1GbE BMC LAN keeps management traffic off the 10GbE production port, and the rear Mini-DP is the BMC console; a desktop at the machine needs an optional RTX PRO card. Supermicro also lists a pre-configured Gold Series SKU, ARS-511GD-NB-LCC-01-G2; ask us which SKU is being quoted.

Storage, networking and expansion

Storage is four M.2 2280 slots and no drive bays: two PCIe 5.0 x4 and two PCIe 6.0 x4; Supermicro lists slots rather than a fitted drive set, so confirm the drive configuration when requesting a quote. Networking is two 400GbE QSFP ports on the ConnectX-8 SuperNIC for storage or a cluster fabric, a 10GbE RJ45 for the office LAN, and the 1GbE BMC port. Expansion is one PCIe 5.0 x16 double-width slot and two PCIe 5.0 x8 slots, with Supermicro supporting the full RTX PRO Blackwell range from the RTX PRO 2000 to the RTX PRO 6000 Workstation Edition as the one additional GPU. That card shares the 1,600 W supply with a Superchip whose GPU alone can draw close to 1,300 W, so the RTX PRO 2000 is the usual display card unless a second CUDA GPU is a stated requirement.

Operating environment: the 15 to 32 °C window

Supermicro rates the ARS-511GD-NB-LCC for 15 to 32 °C operating at 20 to 80 % humidity, a narrower window than the 10 to 35 °C that ASUS and Gigabyte publish for their GB300 towers. A conditioned Singapore office or server room holds 22 to 26 °C without effort, so the limit is not a problem in practice, but it rules out an unconditioned store or a room where the air-conditioning switches off at night. Non-operating limits: 5 to 45 °C.

Who the Supermicro Super AI Station suits

The ARS-511GD-NB-LCC is the GB300 unit for an organisation that has standardised on Supermicro: a data room of Supermicro servers, a monitoring stack already speaking IPMI and Redfish to them, and procurement that prefers one vendor's BMC and security model across the estate. It also suits a team that wants the option to rack the unit later. Compute is identical to every other GB300 tower; StorageReview found the ASUS ET900N G3 and MSI WS300 within two percent of each other on 24 of 28 pairs, and the Supermicro shares that baseboard, so choose it for chassis, cooling and management. The closest alternative is the Gigabyte W775-V10-L01, a lighter pedestal with a Platinum supply and a wider temperature window; our ET900N G3 vs HP ZGX Fury vs MSI WS300 comparison covers the other three, and the AI workstations and servers collection lists all five. If one GB300 tower is more than the workload justifies, two or four ASUS Ascent GX10 units pool up to 512 GB for far less; the AI hardware calculator helps size it.
